Coming thick and fast this morning, scammers not having Easter holiday.

So I’m driving a rental in the US and a txt msg arrives. My phone was connected to CarPlay and I play the txt and it’s one of the Linkt scam txts. To which I said, “Oh, F..k off”.

Siri says, “Your message backs says ‘F..k off’. Do you wish to send?”.

Decisions, decisions….

I cancelled of course to not confirm a real mobile number…..

I got a legitimate email from PayPal last night. It was advising me of 4x $199.99 transfers from my linked bank account to my PayPal account. I raised a transaction dispute and they have acknowledged that I didn't initiate them. Suffice to say I have unlinked the account for now, and changed passwords and setup TFA.

I am glad I got the emails and acted on them. Note I didn't click on the emails, I went to paypal.com independently, just in case the emails were the scam.

As a sign of the times - a family member sent me (my name) a text yesterday (with her name) advising she had ruined her phone and got a new one but lost many photos/contacts. I was sure it was a scam and really freaked as all the names correct etc /waaaaaay too personal.
She then rang me realizing I would think it a scam - when it wasn’t!

Reminds me when I was at school we had a Hungarian mathematics teacher. Back in Hungary he was probably a rocket scientist but as a refugee in Sydney he was teaching maths to teenagers. He had sayings displayed in picture frames around the room, one sticks with me to this day. "The stupidist of all stupids is that stupid who does not know that he is stupid" I think it applies to half the Australian population.
