Scams like these

Today I received two e-mails titled - "Re: Your Westpac online banking services has been disabIed on April 20, 2023 (ID #YLASHDD)" . The actual message field was completely blank. And the Westpac address was obviously incorrect. I found the lack of any misleading instructions strange. I do not have a Westpac account.

Have had many of the silent treatment phone calls on the home phone line of late.
Probably robo dailling to see which numbers are live ones.
Yes, I still have a landline, due to the pooch family clan.
Supposedly, there is a way of only having pure NBN data only, where there is no capability of incoming voice calls.

Hello Dear,

I am Mrs. Susan Buda Karen, A citizen of Connecticut, United State Of America. presently staying in London, United Kingdom. I am married to Late Engr. Chalmers Karen who worked as the financial director under United Nation Development Programme for Africa for more than ten years before he died in the year 2010. We were married for eleven years without a child, he died after a brief illness that lasted for only four days. When my husband was alive he deposited $ 12.5 Million USD with a reputable bank, and presently this money is still with the bank; recently, my doctor told me that I would not last long due to my cancer problem and the one that disturbs me most is my partial paralysis.

I am sorry for barging into your privacy through this method which is the only way I can reach you before exchanging further contact. Anyway, Do not worry as I have an important issue that comes to my mind and of my wish which i want to discuss with you, is about humanity and charity work. Do you have experience with charity work. can you handle a charity project? Would you be sincere and faithful if you are chosen to work for God and humanity, Can you handle charity work of God and humanity for mankind? My spirit tells me to ask you this question.

If your answer is YES and sincerely, I am willing to donate the sum of $12.5 Million USD dollars to these humanitarian and charity projects which is my last wish as I do not have long time to live on this earth due to my severe diagnosis. I decided to choose your email address while searching at random. Kindly get back to me at your earliest convenience, So that I can know about you. I am waiting for your earliest reply to give you more details and to get to know each other better for the betterment of this divine project. Have a pleasant day and God bless.

My regards,
Mrs. Susan Buda Karen

We have landline also @AustraliaPoochie , and somehow I managed to key in the offspring's names with their phone numbers, so we only pick up when we see their caller ID (they are the only ones who have the number.)
And despite being a silent number and on the "Do Not Call Register" , doesn't stop getting calls and some very entertaining messages left!

MrsProzac received this today and immediately assumed it was from MsProzac in North America. Fortunately she brought this to me for review.
The giveaway with Miss Flyfrequently would be she was doing the dishes!!

In regards to the NBN capable phone, it now lists all the missed calls.
And none of them are the ones that I recognise, a lot of them are from BNE or Qld for some reason.
Starting with 073 for eg, never had 06 for ACT.
Lots of 028 for SYD/NSW, and a lot of 03 for MEL/Vic.
Seems like that Vic and NSW seems to be the hot bed of calls, or with number spoofing, the scammers think using a NSW/Vic landline phone number works best.
Never seen an AFP/ATO one on the lit screen, showing missed calls, lucky.

Does anyone know if I call someone that has blocked my number do I get a different tone or does it go straight to voicemail or just ring out

I'd think straight to voicemail. Any other action would give away that your number is blocked or the person is ignoring the call ...
