Many thanks and greatly apprecaited. We got lounge access but hubby asleep already so will miss out on free food hour - hes done as well. Its been a long day so rest and tomorrow will be all good!

I even bought him a memory foam contour pillow from Argos. Strange concept for a store but it works, hubbys been there twice already.

5-8pm, so there'e still time anyway :)

P.S. Welcome to the UK!

Not exactly sure if they did anything, when they "met", but made me laugh that it was sign worthy.

And now... When you follow the room signs, the elevator is out so have to trek up and down a spiral staircase each time to access/leave the room.

Spoken to duty manager and waiting for his return. No idea where our bags are.

All I want is a shower. Hilton Carlton not winning any votes from me so far.
Move to the Sheraton.:)

Was online looking at alternatives when the duty manager walked up.

We survived, it's hardly a world problem but being tired sucked but thankfully the duty manager did his job. Now, having slept 12hrs, ready for road trip! Didn't even have the energy for canapés from the lounge or order room service. Glad I smuggled the 4 bottles of water out, while we were waiting.

Make sure you get to the shops for the 'real' Scottish experience :)

I have these in today's Tesco pick up order. :)

Ah! We had wondered if they had allowed you entry to Scotland!:)

I was very surprised by the grilling we got from immigration. It not like we tick any 'come here to work illegally Aussies' box. But quite a grilling ended up giving entire itinerary when we said we weren't part of a tour and we had to show return flight info.

Maybe the read AFF!:p

On reflection, I’m not sure they should let you into Scotland.:p

I've already been a few times over the years - including a stint in Aberdeen in the 80's on the rigs, before it became a foodie location. And they still let me back - which I'm not sure whether points to lapses in their security procedures, or the comic relief of having Australians toodling around the countryside.

Took us a good ten minutes in a Tesco car park to figure out how to put the rear seats down! This wouldn't have happened with a Fiat.

I thought there would be more room, our bags are only 100ltrs, so average size.

Avis delivered early/9am so felt a little bit rushed but delivery lady was lovely.

They gave you an S upgrade I see?

Good idea of you to alert Scottish AFF readers of your number plate.:)

Day 1 and I fail as a road tripper.

Don't like creepy small towns and we've only managed 1 castle so far. One!

And St Andrews cathedral, which I really enjoyed. Im not usually a grave chaser but some were very touching/interesting. In less windy weather, I would have spent more time here.

The artistry in the script and design is very interesting.

Thank you to the person that recommended the St Andrews Fairmont resort, its wonderful.

I don't know how they do it but we've been addressed by name from the time we get out of the car and the room (3056) is very large, overlooking the course and ocean. You could fit 3 double beds in the room and still lots of room and big bathtub.

It's busy but so many staff, wish we were staying longer.

And great food.

How’s the Jag? Still wishing for a Fiat?

Honestly. Don't buy a jag. I thought it would be bigger. Not a lot of boot room and I keep hitting my head every time I fall into it. Fall, because its low to the ground.

And its the little things. Not enough usb ports and no mirror on the sun visor thing. But once sitting in it, it's very comfortable.

I didn't read my own car manual as much as I've read the jags.

And it has heated steering wheel, which hubby LOVES. Hes having a great time.

We had a Merc when we drove around chilly Scotland - it had heated seats, I nearly burnt my bum I had it set so high :p
