Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

QANTAS A380-800 36J & 36K Sydney to Heathrow

Are these seats good, I have looked on Seat Guru, it does state that they do have a limited recline, but I have read reviews that state they good and other reviews that state they are bad.

Has anyone here sat in these seats on this particular flight.

I messaged QANTAS and they replied that although they have a limited recline they are ok seats, that area is not as noisy as the bottom level.

Reason we are thinking to pick them, is we won't have anyone beside us.

If you were flying this route, would you pick these seats??

Can anyone help me out pls

Re: QANTAS A380-800 36J & 36K Sydney to Heathrow

Yes, they are good seats. The upper cabin only has 30 Y seats, so it is very quiet (usually). I didn't notice the limited recline, but I'm not a recliner...
36K has a side storage bin which is convenient.

Great thanks for that, will book them in now, I am not much of a recliner either, be more happy for the quiet, thanks again

Re: QANTAS A380-800 36J & 36K Sydney to Heathrow

Seat Guru has a default of "limited recline" for any seat backing onto a Bulkhead; so much of this is incorrect I ignore such. In relation to Qantas seating I know of no configuration where these seats have any such limitation.

Managed to get an upgrade to J on QF15 tomorrow, options are 3K or 7K - any recommendations?

Re: QANTAS A380-800 36J & 36K Sydney to Heathrow

Can anyone advise what Y seats 24J/K are like on the newly configured A333 please. I'm flying MEL-SIN and have the choice of 23A/B or 24J/K as WP. I'm 6'2" and I'm aware of the bulkhead legroom limitations and thinner seats on 23A/B (which I'm happy to ignore for a day flight as I won't be sleeping). I'm leaning toward 23B so I can stretch into the aisle anyway.

I was wondering what has become of 23J/K on the new config (currently showing as blocked/missing on QF seatmap) and whether there might be a foot cutaway on any new bulkhead/curtain on 24J/K allowing for more comfort. Is 24J/K just the same as 23A/B now?

Thanks

Not sure about why 24J/K is blocked off; but if you want more leg space - you may want to consider row 29DEFG or J. Good luck!:)

Can you tell me why Row 29 has extra legroom? (I'm just going off the seating plan on MMB and Row 29 looks like a normal Y row). Also see the removal of 23J/K on the plan (I have no idea why it is gone - crew rest perhaps?)

Row 29 doesn't have any extra legroom. It's a standard seat.

Trying to screen shot - not sure how to do it here..LOL!...***oh....now it says I have to have posted 10 or more before I can do any attachments...sorry...can't show you yet then..
Shows on my screen that row 29 is for wheelchair - preferred seating /more leg space - could be exit row!
**edit..oops..now it appears..didn't realize how many posts I've made... LOL!!!

it's wrong! Row 29 may have a movable armrest perhaps? But that's about the extent of it. The Qantas A333 and A332 seat maps (for the revised business class) show 29 is just an ordinary row, in the middle of the cabin.

Only way to find out is to re-post once you have travelled and walked to that row and see for yourself :) LOL!
Could be just the armrest.
Who knows with airlines nowadays - could be the system is not updated etc.

Cheers

I'm pretty sure the photo in the trip report from yohy?! (link in post 646 above) shows the first economy cabin, and counting the rows shows no extra leg room for row 29 (or any of the rows in the cabin). That is consistent with the QF seat maps for that aircraft.

Not sure where the screen shot you had came from? Would be a shame if someone relied on it for a long haul flight :(
