Just transferred some points from SPG to USDM to take advantage of the share bonus and noticed a message saying it could take "up to 4 weeks to transfer".

I'm assuming they don't actually take 4 weeks to transfer - does anyone have any experience with SPG-USDM transfers?

When I did it last year, took about a week.

Hi all, so from my post earlier up I have successfully transferred points back and forth within some family accounts (all legitimate with same surname) all with my 28 degrees card to now have 90,000 points sitting in one account after starting with 0. I am now going to transfer 45,000 to 2 other accounts (to end up with 2 accounts at 90,000), one family (with same surname) and his girlfriend. I was wondering what people thought of whose credit card we should use for the transaction? Hers or mine still? On FT I had read a post regarding doing swaps and someone said by using the receiving persons credit card it was fine. I guess these share promotions it shouldn't have an issue what credit card is used but don't want to risk the ire of the USDM fraud department!

So how many transactions was that in total, all posted instantly without any issue? I think your hard part is over even if they put you in review they still should post as you are well within the promotion period. I would just use the same card to transfer out to family and his girlfriend.

Just cleared the other half's account of 22,000 miles. Transfer was instant...

Now should I share back?...:\

Do you really want to cause trouble in paradise???

Unless she doesn't know she had them of course and then yeah just keep 'em... :)

But seriously there is still room for a bounce back or two isn't there??

Just shared using paypal (credit card). It was instant as well.
I had an issue with this. My primary paypal funds source is a bank account with a couple of credit cards as backups. I selected a credit card source in the paypal screen for the share payment, but when I checked my bank account it had come from there. This happened several times!

Thank you jgm. I just checked my paypal account and this is what has happened. I too distinctly remembering selecting a credit card but the paypal account says it came out of my savings account. Well as it turns out there was no money in that account so it appears to have come out of the (backup) credit card anyway :). Others be warned.

A tad expensive at Paypal exchange rates!

same thing happened with me with one of the shares. Any idea what can be done about this? The backup source was a bank account I rarely use as well so got hit with overdraft charges etc..

worth contacting Paypal?

Some data points
- Transferred from myself to sister on my card - OK
- Transferred from sister back to myself on paypal - worked but results as above, taken from the bank rather than CC as above
- Transfer from sister A to sister B (new account) using my paypal - failed after 24 hours (cannot process payment)
- Transfer from sister A to sister B (new account) using my CC - failed after 24 hours (cannot process payment)

I took out of above that it was the using my CC to new account causing the problem but may have been the new account and/or my CC sperately!

- Transfer from Sister A to my daughter using her CC (supplemantary on my account) - worked OK

Appears to me that you can only transfer if either you or the receiver own the CC, though the fact this was a new account may be part of the equation too.

How "new" was the new account?

Created 30/09.

I should also note for completeness, my two sisters have a different surname to mine.

I think you have to wait 12 days before buying/sharing miles. So may have rejected for that reason. Probably worth trying again on 12/10.

Noob question :
I have an account with zero miles (set up a couple of months ago). Can I set up a new family member account now, buy myself 50K miles and then transfer that to new family members account getting 100K total or will it be invalid as their account hasn't been open for 12 days ?

Correct, that would explain the rejection.
