They would be participating if they have the shop small sticker. Also, just to make sure, do a quick search on the Shop Small map provided by Amex

Where do you see the sticker? At the register? Shop window?

I had a walk around the other day and looked at shops accepting Amex that would interest me. I found a few on the list but I am still not sure who is in the promotion.

The stickers are on the shop window, doors and at the cash registers. The ones in the promotion are listed on the shop small map.

Here's an interesting one. I was browsing through the merchant directory on the Shop Small site and trying to work out which places to visit during that week. One of the restaurants that I frequent, Papparich Doncaster, is listed there, but problem is, it never had any Amex signage at all. There's only a sign at the cash register saying it accepts cash, Visa and Mastercard. I checked the regular merchant directory and it's listed there too.

So yesterday, I was at the cash register after the meal and said I would like to pay by card. Put the card into the reader myself. Had to do a small Amex dance, entered the PIN and the transaction went through!

I have promptly reported them to Amex for their lack of signage.

I have not seen the Shop Small stickers on the shop window.

Just received email from Amex.
Text in red seems to suggest that we could already have been using the card..

THANKS FOR REGISTERING YOUR CARD ENDING IN 03002 FOR SHOP SMALL. THERE'S STILL TIME TO GET A $10 CREDIT BACK AT UP TO FIVE PARTICIPATING BUSINESS LOCATIONS.

Just a reminder that November isn't over yet, which means there's still time
for you to get up to five $10 statement credits.

Simply use your registered Card at participating local businesses between 23 & 30 November, spend $20 or more in one single transaction and you will get a $10 statement credit back. You can spend up to five times at different participating business locations.

Followed by a statement that says Nov 23 is the start date - I think this becomes almost misleading

Yeah, 2nd or 3rd such email. It's pretty dodgy really, as they know it is not yet the 23rd.

I have not seen a sign anywhere either.

Still $50 is better than nothing for not doing anything different.

Does anyone know whether you can register two separate cards (one bank issued and one Amex issued) and get up $50 for each card? Further to that, can you use both cards at the same shop?

The t&c's state 'The Offer is limited to 5 statement credits in total', but all the t&c's are written in such a way that they refer to the card registered, but there is nothing stating that you cannot register two cards!

I registered two cards (one bank issued and one Amex issued). I got confirmation emails for both registrations but I notice I only got a reminder email about the Amex issued one.

I also registered 2 cards, received confirmation emails for both, but only 1 reminder email received. At least I have the confirmation emails which I will hang onto until the $$$ post to my accounts.

I just returned home from local chemist, split purchases into two, each more than $20. Paid for one with bank issued Amex and the other with Amex issued card. Have received emails for each:

A $10 statement credit is on its way.

ENJOY YOUR $10 STATEMENT CREDIT.
LOOK FORWARD TO A LITTLE SOMETHING IN YOUR ACCOUNT.

Thanks for using your Registered Card ending in xx_xx_ to Shop Small.
You can still get 4 more $10 statement credits by continuing to Shop Small in November. You have received $10 so far and can get another $40.
But hurry! Shop Small is only running until the end of November. So support your local businesses now - and add another credit back into your account.
Statement credits may take up to 8 weeks to issue but generally, it should be credited within 5 business days.
You can find out which businesses in your area are participating via our Shop Small map.

Got 3 emails after my morning of shopping - was quite impressed with the functionality of this given the history Amex has of not handling promos very well :p

One of the retailers I went to (that was listed on the Amex site as being a participant) does not take Amex. My items were left on the counter after they told me that.

I registered both my bank issued and Amex issued cards. Dined tomight and used the bank issued card. Arrived home to find a confirmation email that the credit was confirmed on it's way.

However, the merchant Freshwater Village Chinese imposed a 3% surcharge for using Amex. I have lodged a complaint with Altitude which will probably fall on deaf ears as Altitude are bloody hopeless dealing with complaints. Not happy as I see this as switch and bait.

How embarassing that the Fish & Chips place in Milton listed on Amex website as part of this promotion does not accept Amex.. Luckily I asked first before ordering.

Bought something from Milton Cellars but I suspect that is not going to count.

Now I need to find another store to replace the one that does not accept Amex.

Is that another case of the merchant being registered for Amex, but not taking it?
