I called them and let them know that a cafe on the map didn't take Amex and they're going to credit the $10.
Apparently, if a merchant surcharges Amex, they're not meant to be part of the program.

The shop in Swanston Street MEL charged me $1 for doing a $20 myki topup.

One shop on the Shop Small list in Somerville has big signs that say "Sorry we don't take Amex". A couple on the list in St Kilda closed down long ago. But I had an immediate email notification at a pharmac_.

I find the map very buggy. Is there any way of just getting a list of shops in certain areas?

Had 3 places that didn't trigger the $10 credit so I rang Amex and they have manually applied a credit on my Account for $30.

Had two shops on the list that don't even take Amex plus another that hasn't shown a credit yet....

I mailed them from the web portal (when logged into my account on the browser), and got my credits back without any effort. Top stuff Amex.
Though I do find more and more people are refusing to accept Amex. one shop suggested they could work something out, but when I mentioned shop small, they were like "no no no..."
oh well, got my money back Anyhoo.

Whereas the shop I had difficulty with rang me to process my transaction over the phone and the email was in my account within minutes....

Though the Jeans West one is interesting as the store closest to me doesnt take Amex, and they currently have a statement credit offer....

Took my mother for cabbage shopping (For Fermenting). Found an acceptable price at Sunshine Fruit Market. To my surprise they took Amex and later found out they are on the shop small list. Score!

Also somehow NQR are on the list, plus a few others. Looks like I might be shopping for pizza.

AmEx sent me a reminder today because I haven't yet taken advantage of this offer, but their online local search was a total waste of time: 'Search all' in proximity to Sydney Road, Brunswick, yielded zilch.

The Palace Electric Cinema in Canberra apparently doesn't take Amex despite being listed on the Shop Small map.

Called Amex this morning and got 1,000 MR points for my troubles.

OT: The Honey Ryder coughtail they have as part of the Spectre promo is quite nice - gin, elderflower and prosecco.

Tried something similar at my local Thai place. Problem was they claimed their AMEX was down, but still took Mastercard. So ended up with just the entertainment book discount.
