SIN lounge crawl 24 Aug 2013

I'm tempted to join you all but I already have a JASA to SIN booked inNovember. Might see if I can change it.

I am looking forward to trying as many lounges as I can get into. Then I will be able to have a better idea of where to head to next time. So far all I have tried is QF (old J lounge) and KF Gold. Incidentally, I hope to try the SilverKris lounge next year. ;)
Sound like a good plan. You have plenty of time to try all 5 lounges. ;)

I know you do not like it (and I do not quite understand why it gets bad reviews on AFF) but the Skyview Lounge is open 24 hours a day. I was there ~4 weeks ago and the hot food options were better than what was on offer in the BA Lounge and Qantas lounges.

Also the MH lounge is open until ~7:00pm as there is a ~7:40pm flight SIN-KUL. Not sure if there is a later flight.

I have said time and time again I really don't mind the Skyview lounge at all. It is never crowded, the selection is okay. Maybe we're spoilt a bit but for a multi use lounge it's great. Also if flying CX J a CX staff member is on the desk and really looks after you.

Not sure if there's a way for me to join in, but just for reference I note that I'm arriving 16:15 on August 24 on SQ238 and then leaving a couple of hours later on TG408. I can walk quickly if need be :-)

You can always book a JQ flight to KUL and no-show? $2 fare + $29 tax ;) Pity they don't have any $0+0 tickets going like earlier in the year, was free lounge access everyday then!

I assume most of us know where they all the lounges are but for those unclear refer to: http://www.oneworld.com/documents/10180/10571/singapore_1024.gif

The QF, BA, EK and SATS lounges are next to one another. QF might be nicest to finish with, given they call the flights.

Joshua's times show 1200-1530, so we should be fine.

Thats for the normal BNE flight that leaves at 1530, for three months its leaving at 1230 due to Runway works in BNE, hence the hours are 0900-1230, I was in the lounge just over a week ago catching that flight.

Between 1230 and 2125 there are no EK departures, with the first code share being QF to PER at 1815.

That's a crazy idea. I really like it.

Ideally a oneworld flight would be better. MH to KUL is nearly 300 AUD. Cheapest I can see and think of is MH to KCH for under 106 SGD - direct or via KUL. SZB flights are on Firefly.

Thanks for the clarification.

I would hate to see it left out of the event given its one of the better lounges if one ignores the decor and pays attention to the drinks and food, as well as a view!
Hmm, breakfast in the EK lounge anyone?

I guess I should ask, what is the earliest time we can check in at SIN? I.e. can we hang on an early QF flight's check in?

Alternatively, we arrive at 1920 and leave the following day at 1955. What are our chances of getting a BP at the transit desk on arrival (T-24 -ish)?

Early check in for QF opens at 10AM, Row 4, if your flying JQ it opens at 6AM!

The SATS premier check-in is open 24 hours, not sure when they could process it. I thought the regular desks only did up to so many hours prior, but I've never used them - so maybe could add that to my list of things to try out ;)

As for the day before, if anyone want to do a paid upgrade on 52, do it then - they're happy to do it that night before assuming loadings remain cough as usual. I did 5 and 52 in Y a couple months ago under identical circumstances.

If you want to be really serious, stay at the transit hotel or even better overnight in Skyview lounge. Wonder what they'd think about a handful of emeralds crashing there...

...

Out of interest, how much was the paid upgrade from discount Y, Joshua? Flew Y to BKK last week and it's not an experience I card to repeat too often!

I know the feeling. I decided not to go ahead because PE & J were nearly full and I had one side of the Y mini cabin at the front blocked off to myself but still... it sucks!

They will process them until 120 mins prior, though technically 90 is the cut off. Prices may have changed but Y>Y+ was 420 and Y>J at 1000 (SGD). So not cheap but reasonable (well I was on a $330 return fare from ADL). If you do it the night before then you are ahead of most points upgrades. Speak to ticketing at the QF checkin row.

The majority of us will be at the Conrad on the 23rd.

Hmm, 24 hours at Changi. No accommodation costs, with maybe a day trip to the city for some shopping. Next time. :!::cool:

Good to know, thanks for that!

I'm thinking maybe start the lounge crawl off at the QF lounge around 2.30. Followed by MH, Skyview, BA, then EK at 6pm. We can always go back to QF if any of the others are below par. What do people think?

Anyone with enough front to try to blag our way into the SATS lounge?

I might come down to Changi on the Friday night to meet QF5 and those I haven't met yet. Could also be persuaded into garden viewing and/or handbag buying on the Saturday.

Hijacking my own thread for a moment, I have a dilemma on which I'm seeking fellow flypeople's views.

I can leave ADL on 26 Dec, and I have to be in SIN for a 6.45am flight on 30 Dec. Where should I go in between for max SC earn but without redeyes, and preferably for around $2K or less? (Yes I know it's a peak time!). Can't really do ASAs as I blew all my points on a flight in F for next year so only have about 15,000 points left. Any ideas welcomed.

I think the timing sounds good. We will have to give SATS a go, to at least try to 'collect the set'.

Assuming everyone (hint) has HLO it shouldn't take us long to get through immigration/customs. Are there enough of us to make a taxi worthwhile? No idea at the cost. I am happy to jump on the MRT.

TPE-HKG ret in J with CX is showing $2,000, but with a return of 80 SC is not very good value. In comparison 8 x ADL-MEL (in whY ) or 2 x in J return will net 160 SC for similar cost

For $500 more you can catch a flight to ADL in J, or look for the bus ess savers that pop up within 3 months of departure, TPE KUL or MNL return in J for $500 or so. MH has similar J bargains domestically with J KUL to LKG/ PEN $100 each way.
