SIN lounge crawl 24 Aug 2013

What time should we aim to get to the airport?

In SIN?? I've never been to SIN before so wouldn't mind a chance to run around in the morning and take in as much as a couple of hours will enable - importance of lounge crawl notwithstanding!!!

I have done the half day city tour with this group on my first visit and found them to be good (about S$30-40). The tour goes to about 1.30, though which would cut into lounge time. Otherwise skip the organised tour, and take a walk around Marina Bay.

I'm not too fussed about the time to airport question. Maybe around lunch time? But having a look around is more important.

BTW Medhead i am VERY experienced at shopping for pricey handbags!

 Fortunately, I am as well. I find the best way is to know exactly which model to get. ;) Saves my time and also prevents disappointment.

I was thinking of spending the morning by the pool (weather permitting) and going to the airport when I have to checkout.

Haven't checked in the last couple of weeks but IIRC the EK lounge has an afternoon closure that we might need to consider for those on earlier flights back to Aus.

EK Lounge closes around 12 and does not reopen until around 7PM.

EK closed between 3.30 and 6pm according to SIN website Airline Lounges - Changi Airport

Is it out of date? It looks like it might be to me as it seems to refer to QF/BA as one lounge, but I haven't been to SIN since January.

The Brisbane flight has been retimed for a few months from a 3 PM departure to a 12.30 departure, hence the change. I would say it will be open at 6PM, there is no need to change that time.

Also not too sure of the MH opening hours. They seem to have a surprisingly light (to me) schedule out of SIN. I'll still take a look over there but will probably end up back at T1 Skyview lounge not long after.

According to the One World Site 5.00am to 9.00pm Daily

Interesting that the OneWorld site also includes the SATS Premier lounge.

The Skyview lounge is not that great IMO so I don't intend to spend much time there. Last time I was there the "hot" food and the white wine were at the same temperature, which was not the best for either of them. But I haven't been to EK, MH or the new QF or BA lounges yet.

JAL use it, its an associated lounge, so I doubt you would get entry, I think it was also used while the QF lounge was being worked on as was Skyview for JQ passengers which had the benefit of allowing lounge facilities for those on JQ/3K before 2.30PM.

I was able to use the SATS lounge as an Emerald before flying a JAL flight to NRT one morning - then again, that was not before a Qantas flight.

To summarize lounge situation:
BA: 1500-2359
MH: 0500-1700 (maybe 2100)
QF: 1430-2300
EK: 1200-1530,1800-0200
Skyview: 0000-2359
SATS: 0000-2359

I think I've been to all but MH and EK, which I missed the last few occasions. Not sure what departure times people have, I'm also on 52 for now. Might stay in BNE before heading back to ADL... or might join you on QF6 then fly back on JQ to MCY...

Still a maybe ;)

As previously advised the EK lounge closes after the BNE leaves at 12.30, it opens around 9AM.

Thanks for the lounge times.

So I guess it is MH-EK first, followed by the rest.

A few of us are on QF52, so might see you then as well.

It's going to depend on timing. Ek is either before midday or after 1800.

I know you do not like it (and I do not quite understand why it gets bad reviews on AFF) but the Skyview Lounge is open 24 hours a day. I was there ~4 weeks ago and the hot food options were better than what was on offer in the BA Lounge and Qantas lounges.

Also the MH lounge is open until ~7:00pm as there is a ~7:40pm flight SIN-KUL. Not sure if there is a later flight.

I am looking forward to trying as many lounges as I can get into. Then I will be able to have a better idea of where to head to next time. So far all I have tried is QF (old J lounge) and KF Gold. Incidentally, I hope to try the SilverKris lounge next year. ;)

Not sure if there's a way for me to join in, but just for reference I note that I'm arriving 16:15 on August 24 on SQ238 and then leaving a couple of hours later on TG408. I can walk quickly if need be :-)
