Are there enough of us to make a taxi worthwhile? No idea at the cost. I am happy to jump on the MRT.

Taxi from Changi to vicinity of Conrad is usually around $30. MRT is cheap but takes a long time.

You "could" pre-organize a Limo for dollar or two more:

Used William Chong, +65 9739 3265 - [email protected] - last time I was in SIN, and found he was very good value for money, was caught as a taxi though off the rank, and was $32 to downtown, so not sure how much more for pre-aranged travel it would be. Really nice Limo ride with all the trimmings, for what could be not much more than a taxi.

Out of interest, how much was the paid upgrade from discount Y, Joshua? Flew Y to BKK last week and it's not an experience I card to repeat too often!

I think the timing sounds good. We will have to give SATS a go, to at least try to 'collect the set'.

Assuming everyone (hint) has HLO it shouldn't take us long to get through immigration/customs. Are there enough of us to make a taxi worthwhile? No idea at the cost. I am happy to jump on the MRT.

We did 10 days in singas last year, Thought taxis were cheap. My memory is saying 20 to 30. However, I think more than 4 people gets a bit more expensive.

As long as you have enough points at the time you can request an upgrade. They only double check later if the upgrade comes in, not enough points no upgrade.

In my experience economy on a 747 is much more bearable than economy on an A330. Next time you go to BKK go the long way!

Yeah front row on the QF 744 in Y is great and fine for a day flight. I'm all for scheming and flying in F but can't argue with front Y ADL-SYD-SIN for $160 each way A330 not so good, I now avoid like the plague. PER-SIN day flight was my limit.

Stuff for late December... Last year we left on the 26th to SIN. We had booked a regular return ex-SIN so it was RIO like prices but booked into an upgraded class - not sure if that's still case. With some multi-city magic had stupid routings domestically with extra flights for a few dollars and lots of SC. Upgraded all flights comfortably. KL is a cheaper place to stay, but SIN/HK is where you'd want to be NYE. For cheap SC look at the MH options maybe.

SIN-BKK I found CX J was cheaper than JQ when looking at return prices, so you might get lucky. Also there is good old RJ flying tag flights BKK-KUL and BKK-HKG, which I've happily flown several times both connecting to/from AMM and just individually. Cheap J prices again. (Hint if you're coming from Europe on RJ there are some less known fares than can get you those flights on MH or CX J instead + extra SC.)

Oh and I took the MRT last time, it was fine. Otherwise usually take a cab to the Conrad. Really doesn't bother me but with a small group the cost becomes truly negligible.

Yes, A330 economy borders on unbearable!! I swear that short hop to BKK felt like an eternity.

OT but I'm finding BKK very different to previous trips (admittedly last trip was 2007); very somber, not as friendly, service levels dropped. Interesting to observe the changes.

Good to see 5J went to a good home. I had selected it but 2 weeks ago decided to FAX in a CPAP clearance. Now I'm in 8A on both QF52 and QF8. No shadow on 8B either Oh well, I'll make sure I use the gear on QF52 now:-|

I know it has been mentioned before, but with the new config is 8A the only seat with designated power for a CPAP machine? The other thread started talking about it then went onto the A380.
