Singapore Airlines Delays/Cancellations

SQ211, the Tuesday 19 July 2016 0935 hours day flight took off from tropical SIN at 1048. Arrival in SYD is suggested as 36 minutes late at 1951 with conveyance B772ER 9V-SWQ.

The rather early if one is staying in an hotel room overnight SQ241 - 0705 hours SIN - SYD - on Thursday 28 July (B773 9V-SYG) did not take off until 0911, about an hour and 50 minutes late, so arrival is likely at 1829, 94 minutes behind time. The timetabled 1800 hours SYD - SIN QF242 returning flight might be able to depart at 1945 if all goes well.

A380 9V-SKA on SQ232, the 1100 SYD - SIN on Monday 1 August 2016 was taxiing at 1220 so it will be quite delayed to Changi.

SQ251, the overnight from SIN to SYD is arriving at about 0949, 34 minutes late on Thursday 4 August. Aircraft is A333 9V-SSF.

The Thursday 18 August 2016 SQ252 (with the new A350-900, 9V-SME) took off from MEL at 1849 compared with its pushback timetable of 1825, so hardly late, but arrival is expected 36 minutes behind at 0051 on Friday 19 August.

An SQC (Singapore airlines Cargo) had a tailstrike on takeoff today at MEL which closed the runway for a short time around 1150hrs) according to ABCNews

(I believe SQC operates a B747 and usually the next sector is MEL-AKL. After AKL is a direct mission back to SIN) or vica versa

I'm unable to find additional corroborating information

Thank you jb747: the one media report I had seen on Sunday claimed that this was an SQ freighter, not a passenger plane.

Curiously, the report you supplied claims that there were '400' occupants on board this flight. That is impossible, since SQ B773s seat 284 and there might be around 20 crew members.

If the reporter got that incorrect, I hope that the rest of the report is trustworthy.

That's true enough, though I suspect that if they looked at all, they would have gone to a generic 777-300 page on which 400 is quite possible. A bit like an A380 being able to carry 800. They can, but nobody does.

I've been looking around, but I can't find a checklist for the 777-300 for this item. Still searching.

thanks JB747,

Incorrect reporting by ABC journalist saying it was a Sing air cargo etc etc. No wonder i could not find SQC flight.

Though if ATC tells theSQ pilot that they think there was a tail strike, that that would ordinarily cause a return to base? Or are there tail strike protection systems on the Flight computers calculating the geometries during rotations?

Sunday 23 October has SQ207, the day flights (0745 ex SIN) arriving in MEL about 37 minutes late at 1847 with B772ER 9V-SVJ. This aircraft took off about on time at 0803 but a 'hold' above Warracknabeal, Vic. has not assisted timekeeping.

The redeye from SIN down to ADL, SQ279 (A333 9V-STU) was timetabled to push back at 2310 hours on Thursday 27 October but did not take off until 0021 on Friday 28, so arrival should be at roughly 0920 hours, 50 minutes tardy. As SQ278 is supposed to depart at 1010 back to SIN, expect it to be about 20 minutes late in pushing back.

On Wednesday 2 November 2016, SQ214 (B772ER 9V-SRO, 1730 ex PER) took off at 1842. SIN arrival is forecast to be 2350 hours, 65 minutes behind schedule.

Thursday 3 November sees the MEL-bound SQ207 having taken off from SIN at 0901 hours despite an 0745 hours pushback time with arrival suggested as 40 minutes behind at 1850. Aircraft is B772ER 9V-SVG.

On Friday 11 November, SQ237, the 2345 hours (B773 9V-SYH) SIN to MEL that was airborne at 0208 hours on Friday 11 should arrive at about 1137, 87 minutes late. This will delay SQ238, the 1125 hours timetabled ex MEL to about 1255.

Thought I'd chip in with my recent experience given Melburnian1's comment about reports on delay/cancellations in the thank you thread.

My outbound SQ238 on Monday the 7th was pushed back to a 12:00 departure due to the late inbound sector, causing a missed connection with the follow on SQ836 to Shanghai (scheduled 17:05), deplaned at 16:35 or so and was given a new boarding pass for SQ826 at 01:05, plus a voucher for the Crowne Plaza hotel, dinner included (located outside T3 beyond immigration). My purchased exit row upgrade was retained though SQ's older series 777's are slightly less comfortable (narrower seats)

In all I didn't mind the delay and how I was treated, would've preferred to arrive at the original time at least.
Given SQ238 seems to suffer minor (and some major) delays quite a bit according to FlightAware I would advise not attempting a 'HOT' connection with this flight.

Interestingly an SQFlightInfo reminder for SQ826 arrived in my email mid flight at about 2:30PM AEDT, had there been in-flight WiFi on this sector I would've definitely known before touchdown!

On Friday 18 November 2016, SQ228 (1640 hours mid afternoon MEL - SIN that was in the sky at 1735, B773ER 9V-SWS) shopuld arrive 43 minutes tardy at 2203 hours.

The Sunday 27 November 2016 SQ231 (0045 hours from SIN to SYD, A380 9V-SKM) was not airborne until 0147 hours. Hence it is likely to arrive at 1213 early this afternoon, 33 minutes behind schedule.
