Singapore QF/BA lounge new changes

I've had a few flights through SIN over the last month and all I can say is that it is chaos. I can't wait till this mess is over, but at least MH now offer us un alternative :)

There are many alternatives- just think 'outside the square" :D

I wonder if it will be possible to travel on the EK metal codeshares, and make use of the EK lounges in SIN after April? Perhaps things aren't so bad after all.

Miss FM flew via Singapore last night. She was Bangkok Air from Ko Samui and then QF10 to Melbourne travelling in Discount Y with no status boyfriend and she is a WP. No trouble getting into the platinum lounge and she said there was plenty of food - people walking around with trays with spicy food and bits and pieces, as well as a help yourself area. She wasn't hungry so didn't eat much but felt it was all fine and not too crowded.

That is quite a poor experience.. you would think this would all be sorted out by now.

Not sure if this has been noted already (thread too long to be sure) but as a WP1, I was only granted access to the EK lounge from 4.45pm onwards (I also overheard a CL being denied early access).

The timing seemed to coincide with the departure of EK's flight to BNE and so they may be ensuring that the lounge doesn't become overcrowded.

Once we were finally granted entry, I have to say it was well worth the wait. Best food in SIN by far and a long bank of windows offering natural light and a view over the runway.

Hopefully the EK lounge will remain an option even if flying with BA to LHR post 1/4/13.

Typing this at 8:15am in the Skyview Lounge...

I first went to the SATS lounge with my WP card and 3K boarding pass, and said that I was told I can use the lounge here while Qantas is building theirs, they said I should try the Skyview Lounge instead. And so I did. They had to write out a little slip for their record, but I had no issues getting in, at 8am. So perhaps others SG and above travelling on Jetstar can try to get in as well. It's closer to D wing which Jetstar Asia usually use as well, and amazingly quiet on a Saturday morning.

I'm confused. Travelling on Qantas J in July with my partner who will be Platinum by then. (Happy Dance thanks to AFF. ). Which lounge?

Ask that question again in June, we should all know by then. New QF lounge expected to be open in April. Who knows what is happening with mooted BA F lounge. Then there is the rules still to be released around access to EK lounges in general.

Here's a quick question. I am flying LHR-SIN tomorrow evening first class. From there I transfer to either and economy or business (awaiting upgrade approval). I am a SG Qantas FF. Would I be able to use the Emirates lounge (I did on my way over) or the SATS lounge? I have about a four hour layover, and wouldn't mind a shower and break somewhere. Thanks

Welcome JustDoug.
The tables normally refer to the departing flight (unless otherwise specified) so I suspect your incoming F status won't count.
That said as Qantas Gold you will always have access to Skyview (CX) which has showers, and now Malaysian Golden Lounge as well, and via the temp arrangements you also have access to the SATS lounge.

Cool thanks heaps. Not really too phased, although the Emirates lounge was very nice and highly recommended if you get the chance

Interesting article in Ausbt today (among other things) on the QF SIN lounge: Qantas revs up for Asia: new lounges & services, maybe lie-flat beds - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

Singapore will also be the first to see what Hickey describes as “a new type of model” for Qantas international lounges – an integrated lounge to accommodate both first class and business class travellers.

And while “there will only be one lounge” compared to Singapore’s previously separate First and Business lounges, Hickey says “there’ll be some differentiation within that lounge” in terms of service.

“The Qantas Singapore Lounge will be a fantastic experience” Hickey enthuses. “It will be like our great international lounges in Sydney and Melbourne in terms of the experience and the style.”

(We’re not at liberty to reveal some of the specifics we’ve heard about the Qantas Singapore Lounge but we reckon it will set a new benchmark, not just for Qantas but for international airline lounges as a whole.)

Any guesses how they'll differentiate F/WP pax from J/SG within the integrated lounge or what 'new benchmark' will look like?

Maybe day spa service for F/WP pax?

Perhaps sit down restaurant for F pax? Similar to BA F lounge at LHR T3. (WP's don't get access to it unless flying F.)

Probably similar to MHs Platinum room, or a throwback to the old HKG lounge!

I'm not holding my breath after yesterdays announcements, I reckon it'll just be a stock standard lounge with new decor and a bit of spin that its better... :-|

I suspect it will be more akin to the J lounges in SYD and MEL with a small enhancement for F.

Perhaps Island dining that actually works?
Perhaps a F-only bar area?

Well, we know what Joyce means by improvement now, so I guess anything goes.

Maybe it will be like the BNE F Room for a nice special touch for F passengers. Look forward to checking it out!
