SkyTeam Status Match - ITA Airways

Email yesterday to to tell me that status extended until 31/12/23.

Got the same email. And I am actually flying with ITA Airways in the next week so will finally get to test them out.

Their website is still terrible though, and I still don't really see the value in this status when no other SkyTeam airlines (except now KE) recognise it!

With LH about to purchase 40% in them it will be interesting to see what happens to ITA
Sounds like the takeover by LH will be done in a couple of weeks.
I would imagine they would be fully integrated into the LH stable and become a Star Alliance member

I can safely report that China Airlines has integrated ITA in their systems and my SkyTeam Elite Plus status is recognised - printed on my boarding passes, got lounge access in Brisbane and Taipei and better seats with more legroom on my two legs to Asia.

Currently at the Plaza Premium at BNE.

Now, as they are not official partners on ITA´s website - I wonder how hard it will be for me later on to credit my flights to Flying Blue.

ITA will also leave SkyTeam to join Star Alliance so the next step will be to have our status integrated within *A.

3 out of 4 flights have successfully been posted to my Flying Blue account while using all Elite Plus benefits throughout my journey.

FQTS - ITA/AZ
FQTV - AF

How did you manage to get the different frequent flyer numbers on these two fields?

I asked the helpful agent at check-in to use those two commands and she didn’t see any problems with it.

They had to check their SOPs but it all went well and they’ve learnt that ITA was actually recognised by CI systems. (they weren’t aware).

Can you be a bit more specific? What instructions did you give the agent on how to enter two different FF numbers in different fields?

Probably the systems are different, but I used to do this with NZ check in when using up my remaning NZ status benefits while crediting to VA. (Back when they were "friends".)

Sorry - just saw it now.

I asked the manager on duty if she has some knowledge of Amadeus check-in and using the FQTS and FQTV commands.

She knew instantly how to make it happen in their systems (she was a VN senior employee at Da Nang).

That's from the SQ newsletter for a flight cxl - but it is the same process.

I asked her to add my ITA frequent flyer number (starting by AZ) to use the lounge and get a priority tag for my luggage using the comment FQTS.
I then asked her to add my Flying Blue number to get the corresponding miles using the comment FQTV.
My boarding passes were then displaying my Elite Plus entitlements thanks to the status match via ITA.
I then confirmed that my AF number was correctly entered and she took a photo with her phone to show me. It was all correct.

I was able to use all my Elite Plus benefits and all my miles were credited to Flying Blue within 12 hours.

She was super quick and asked me if I worked in Aviation to know those commands - haha.
I think it will depend on how knowledgeable your check-in agent is.

From Brisbane - the check-in crew and manager on duty refused to enter two frequent flyers numbers so your mileage may vary!

Very helpful, thank you.

Just to clarify, the instructions for "status miles" aren't so much about miles but status. So, in your example, you wanted your points credited to your (lower status) Flying Blue account and so had Flying Blue details entered according to the "bonus/award miles" instructions and you wanted your (elite) status from AZ and so had those details entered according to the "status miles" instructions, correct?

What would "SQ" be substituted by? In the above table, is SQ referring to the operating carrier? And what about "HK", is that a standard (non-variable) part of the script? Finally, the "S" appears to represent the particular segment the passenger wants to the particular FF details to apply to (e.g. SIN-DRW-MEL, entering S2 would apply the details to the DRW-MEL leg).

I've read today that Lufthansa and the Italian government have finally reached an agreement for LH to purchase an initial 40% stake in ITA Airways. It should be signed today.

Now hopeful that a status match between ITA and LH will be made available before my ITA Volare Premium match lapses in Jan 2024! :D

Cheers,
Matt.

Got my shiny new card in the mail yesterday.
Something nice about physical cards.
Probably won’t get any use out of it as we travel in J only but nice nonetheless

and had to go the post office to collect because it had to be signed for

So just unpacked my new card and it is valid until 1/24. I wonder if I'll ever get to use it

We've also now have Asante Rewards from Kenya Airways.
Just got status matched with them from EY Gold to Skyteam Elite Plus - which will keep me going until October 2024.

FF Number is recognized correctly on China Airlines, Korean Air and Delta from the few dummy bookings I tried.

That's on my list to do this week. Was it very hard to do?
