SkyTeam Status Match - ITA Airways

That's on my list to do this week. Was it very hard to do?

I too have looked into it but from everything I’ve read it appears Asante status holds about as much relevance as ITA does in SkyTeam and that many of the other airlines won’t recognise it yet.
ITA has been what, over a year or something and still isn’t integrated, I’d hope Kenyan is integrated sooner but in the meantime I think I will just keep crediting to VS and hope to get status that way

I'm just hoping that LH might match ITA status before my card expires end of Jan 2024! The deal was signed off by the Italian PM, but is still stuck with the EU commission / antitrust body for review. Supposedly they are concerned about LH's increasing control of air travel in the region. May be tabled this month.

With the new ITA App, I was able to gift Premium status to my brother - haven’t seen any reports anywhere on that feature - as a Status Matched from QR.

The change was immediate on his account, now showing an expiry of 01/2025.
He is flying with MU next month so it’ll be interesting to see if they support AZ FFs in their systems.

Mine is Executive and expires 01/2024.

Also, from today, AF & KLM now officially recognises ITA numbers for earn and burn.

I created a second ITA account with my own details and used the Gift feature from my Executive account. The second account now has the mid-tier Club Premium ITA status, however that level seems to include top tier SkyTeam status of ElitePlus (evident on the SkyTeam logo of ITA membership card). Status valid thru 1/25.

I was hoping that the gifted account could also gift status itself so that we'd have an endless supply of SkyElite status but no dice. It seems the gifting option is only available to ITA Executives. Oh, and the Gift tool from the Executive account can only be used once, so choose wisely.

I have no immediate travel plans with any SkaryTeam partners but it never hurts to have their top tier status in your back pocket, especially with the reported Lufthansa take over and possible *A membership. Based on current progress, there's a good chance they'll be a fully fledged *A member before becoming a full SkaryTeam member (announced October 2021).

SkyTeam only has two status levels, Elite and Elite Plus. Elite offers very little but Elite Plus comes with things like lounge access. ITA has two membership tiers that are Elite and two that are Elite Plus.
Smart and Plus are Elite
Premium and Executive are Elite Plus.
To the best of my knowledge some SkyTeam partners still refuse to acknowledge or honour ITA status

I did sign up Mrs Jase and gifted Premium to her. Was immediately processed and I logged on to see her instantly upgraded so not bad. Not sure if I’ll use it but it’s there just in case

wow, they really do process instantly - all it took was a refresh of the other browser window.

As a data point last night I booked an AF reward flight with VS points this morning and VS website allowed me to enter ITA number in drop-down box (wasn’t let me do that a month ago) and my MMB page on the clearly shows Sky Priority on the top of the page. I went into AF website to choose seats and SkyTeam was shown next to my name and extra baggage allowance has been added. I was also able to select seat for free but not sure if that’s just a coincidence

Same here. Was checking this yesterday (have an upcoming KLM booking) and was wondering if I'd missed something.

I'm looking on my app. I don't even see where you actually see the validity of your card or membership. Had this status of elite for two years. Never flown SkyTeam!! Where does it state the validity? Am I just stupid?

In the app I go to profile and then click on the little picture of your card and it will bring up your card with the expiry date. You can then add that to Apple wallet

got the extension as well, seems a shame to have a giftable status wasted with a dummy account - but I know if I'd waited to see what happened, it would've been a hard dump to nothing. So, you're welcome - taking the minimal hit for the greater good lol (I'll also make a post when I'm about to buy shares so you can dump them before the inevitable drop immediately post-buy )

Couldn't you just do it again later in 2024? Just create a new account to gift to
