So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

I ordered an Y Performance in June last year and finally got it a month ago.
Local Woolies has 15A free charging so we shop slowly once/twice a week, usually gives us a 3% boost.

Our local shoppo has 3 phase 11kW chargers - visible on ChargeFox. Thats the full charge that a Y can accept via an AC charger
About 60km charge in 1 hour.
Im wondering whether I really need to put in a high power wall charger.
A 10 amp standard at home may well suffice. But I have lots of solar so Im leaning toward putting one in.

@coriander, do you know under what conditions are the front motors activated?

Maybe it was a textured wrap, never been into these type of finishes and haven't done any research.
 
The time has come to get back on the car ladder again and I've managed to try quite a few with the many, many rentals I do each year.

That being said, it's not really helped me decide what direction I want to go!

Immediate thoughts around cars to take for a test drive include the Lexus UX (maybe NX at a push size wise), Kia Niro (or Sportage) and Peugeot 2008 (hmmm, French!).

Requirements are that it's not too big given London driving can be tight, as well as predominantly tight parallel parking; front/rear sensors, rear camera etc. I'm thinking hybrid (or straight petrol) rather than plug-in hybrid or electric.

Anything else I should be thinking of looking at? Have driven the Renault Captur quite a few times but didn't really like it, although they haven't rented me one in nearly 4 years so perhaps the newer models are better.

Then there's the other end of the scale, buying something fun rather than practical.......

How abojut the smaller Mercs such as A class. Good size for london traffic and well equiped. But sounds like you want something bigger.

The Chinese made MGs are getting quite good reports here.

Yeah, although not a fan of the Merc either (find it uncomfortable to drive). The Kia Ceed is quite nice, had one for 6 months or so as they allowed me to roll over the rental (was cheaper to rent week by week rather than 3-4 weeks for example). It's still an option size wise and one Mrs FB would definitely be happy with!

Had an MG recently in Nice, France; ugh .. horrible car economy wise. Had the EHS PHEV is quite large though.
 
Was thinking of the electric MGs. We have a B class which I like. Easy to get into and quite nice to drive, alt these days one tends to use radar cruise most of the time, esp in traffic and with changing t speed zones.

The new Alfa Tonale looks quite nice. Might take it for a test in near future.

I had a KIA Sportage last week as a rental, it was much better than the mg zs the previous week.
However, the KIA is imo on the larger size. It was a diesel, so even better in my opinion.
Not sure what we will get next week in Qld.
I had a Yaris hybrid in NZ last year and was very pleasantly surprised. I did most of my driving on small country roads, as I was following a rally, it returned about 3.7 litres per 100 km from memory.
I’m still dithering on something to replace her car with and would consider the KIA.

I think the Niro is slightly smaller so a good option potentially. There is also the Stonic too...

I drove the Sportage in the states and did find it to be a bit bigger than I liked, but was easy in the US so didn't really stress too much there!

To think, I learnt to drive in a Fairlane. Every car I've had since has been quite a bit smaller!
