So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

I have just ordered another new Golf to replace this one... We tried to buff it out and 100 mile tape but nothing would work so have to replace it

View attachment 118958 Just had a spin around the neighbourhood. The weather finally cooled enough to enjoy the drive.
Happy Days !!

I am going off topic from the start.

I would like the opportunity to to catch up at some point in the future, if we ever get the opportunity to meet. I have an unfortunate and expensive love of old British cars. From the couple of pictures posted and your commentary your MG looks like it has undergone a very nice restoration and has been turned into a driver. I came across the front photo and thought this was a 65-67 model, after reading another or your posts sounds like you have a 67. Much to MrsM's disapproval I have owned a few MGs including: TD, TF, MKI A, MKI B, MKII B and a MKII ,1972 AU flow thru (the one I really regret selling only 1069 produced). My dream MG is a 1600 MKII twin cam.

All the MG stuff aside, my BMC passion now sees me owning a 1948 RMB 2.5 and a 1929 Riley 9-4 tourer.

I have also owned a couple of Minis (including a Cooper), Morris Minors, x1 original, x1 which I dropped in a datsun 1200 and x1 with a holden 186.

Back on topic - what do I drive now, simple a 4x4 diesel duel cab that can pull around the toys.

I have some nice memories.. but I guess I am ot….
My mate wanted to try rallying so off we went .
I didn't have a clue ; the experience of trying to read a map,use a calculator , see the speedo ( which was now in front of the driver to allow the webber to breathe) while the lights scanned the forest , the gravel sandblasted the wheel arches and the tacho went up and down to the tune of a very warm engine defeated me.
Our rallying career was short.
The problem with Cooper S's was that understeer ruled and once on full lock and full throttle the only way to steer was with the handbrake… (this was usually on big highway sweepers at mach .9)
We were all stark raving mad and sadly quite a few mates paid the ultimate price….

Not many significant others will appreciate the dynamic of
Owning a car which never really made it as a comfortable , and reliable car. The real joy of these cars is their fallibility , their lack of polish and elan. It was what one now calls counterculture! I love it.
You’re welcome to PM for a catch up. I’m a few $’000 away from where I want to be with this car. But before Easter 2019 I want it sorted. The big MG event in 2019 will be based around the Redlands.

ALH I don’t think that would buff out but a bit of gaffer tape......
Meanwhile both of our Lexus models are still fitting in the “never fail” category which are the 600hl hybrid and the 450 h hybrid. We are in no rush to change.
