So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

About 40,000kms usually gets the car down to around half the new delivery cost. I don’t own a new car yard so what I am doing is working ok for my needs.

Ok, it's the one you've linked.

A rocking motion strikes me as harmonic....

And this is TG's description of Jag owners.

Jeremy Clarkson Explains Jaguar Owners - YouTube
Possibly as horse floats don’t have shock absorbers (dampeners).

Haha - Jaag!!

O you remember the TG episode about driving upside down in a tunnel?

My half price point is a bit higher 50-60000km if purchasing. Hmm might be time to rethink that

I've seen all of the post 2002 TG, though some are much more memorable than others. The first season after the trio was unwatchable, but the latest was quite good. Grand Tour is hit or miss.

I think the same episode as driving upside down in a sewage tunnel was a “what to do if you are going to miss the ferry back to England”. Can’t remember the car but it was one of those small European ones

I haven’t watched the GT yet
There is only one TG. Calling the post Trio show TG was never going to work

Now that they've gotten rid of Chris Evans, it's worth a look. Matt LeBlanc does a surprisingly good job of it. They don't try to be the trio, but they all bring something to the show, and it is more about the cars than it had been previously.

Yes, TG was never really about car reviews - cars were only the device to achieve their irrerevent entertainment. Sad it came to an end.

I have not watched the Leblanc TG apart for the first episode

I’ll put it on the list.

The new or current TG is a car show, nowhere near the entertainment it once was as top rating show in the world.

I prefer the entertainer it was and don't bother with the current try hards.

I wonder how many cars they wrote off in the original TG?
There was one episode where they raced (demolition derby) all kinds of vehicles - double decker buses, limos, bendy buses, aircraft stair vehicles etc etc. Surprisingly the double decker bus never toppled over.

The trio were actually quite good drivers.
Did they ever get a lap time in a reasonably priced car?

It might be how you're packing the horses. Top Gear had some suggestions on that....

I don't think y'all read my post very carefully.
The float moonlights as a furniture van and it was in this mode that the sway was evident.
Over a range of loads and usage over the last ten years it has never had the giggles with the old eg in command.
The whole point of the post was a possible tendency of air bagged cars to hunt with high windage loads
The tendency however, is unproven here as it is based on a two rat study , A rangie with a big van and and a touareg with a big float
Can we resume normal programming ...

A lot of write offs I would think. I think I read somewhere the show had a budget of $2m per episode. Some companies wouldn't loan cars so they had to go and buy them. Tesla tried suing over a review they did and lost so plenty of legal fees I imagine would be in there as well.

Have read your previous post but you did not say previously that it was moonlighting as a furniture van. Not that it makes any difference (unless loaded differently)

While airbagged vehicles give a very comfortable ride, all of these vehicles also have significant antisway bars and suspension dampers. Sway/yaw is not a vertical acceleration covered by springs/bags but lateral acceleration - this is covered to some extent only by antisway bars and shock absorbers (but not entirely). IMO, I don’t think it’s springs or airbags

I know for example that the Landcruiser 200 in the factory setup (very soft rear springs) and 3T loaded float has never exhibited sway - rhythmic or not. When I added airbags to the springs nothing there either.

Maybe the best is to find a sprung vehicle to test on exactly the same loaded float

I am not a car guy. I know that. But I have my pride. My better half just sent me my booking for my usual car hire BNE to home in Sunshine Coast.

A Corolla????????

Skyped her to complain and she insists she did it with guaranteed "double upgrade" so should get SS. That is OK.

Did she forgot to mention the fine print ...“if available”...???

Yes Tesla suit was thrown out twice for the same defence as the company hides behind regarding range - that actual range depends on driving conditions.
Imagine if every car user can sue because the actual fuel consumptions are always higher than the published / sticker figures.
