Got my RS Focus back today. When I dropped it off on Tuesday I was given details as to what would happen. First a pressure test, if that was satisfactory then the head gasket would be replaced. If it failed the pressure test then the head and the gasket would be replaced. Mine only needed the gasket, which doesn't surprise me as I haven't really driven it like I stole it.

Hope that is the end of the problem and it goes like a Rocket, rather than steams like it.

Can I afford a Lexus that comes without a radar detector? I have loved zero fines and 12 points intact in WA where the detectors are legal. I went past two radar money spinners in 3 kms driving home from work. No issues at going thru them at 50 kph.

I like the Access Mode when the RRS lowers itself when parked

We have van. Weighs in at 1800kgs. It doesn’t even notice that it’s there. Even the fuel consumption is still reasonable.

Ha...all cars do, but not necessarily with the same stereotype across the range. Don't forget Subaru WRX drivers, who are, of course, all ram raiders. And I doubt that an Audi S/RS driver is the same stereotype as an A6 person.

My wife and I both refer to blond female BMX X3/X5 drivers as 'the stereotype'. Especially if the car is black.

My new air suspended Touareg develops a gentle rythmic yaw at 100k+ freeway speed towing the big horse float.
It's a 3 horse float and the roof has been raised.. so lot's of windage
The older sprung Toureg did not exhibit this behaviour.
A family member has a top of the line rangie and it also does the same thing towing a large caravan.
I have done a squillion towing miles and for me the behaviour is just a mild irritation , however a less experienced driver ,with a heavy trailer and a lightish drawbar weight , could easily find themselves in the automotive version of coffin corner….

This is a problem I have with the Tesla as well, albeit only when I'm sitting up really straight. Aerodynamics and sleek looks are all well and good until you give your noggin a smackin.

I'm led to believe that incorrect gaskets were fitted to some vehicles and as Ford doesn't know which ones were affected, (difficult to believe that) so
all gaskets are being replaced with the correct ones, these engines produce a lot of power and as they are turbocharged the compression ratio is a significant factor. They are capable of running at overboost pressures for a while, if this has been done a lot and the engine has got very hot, ie, at track days and the like, there has been an issue with either the head gasket leaking, or the engine getting so hot that the head has warped.

Displacement: 138 cu in, 2261 cc

Maximum torque: 440Nm (350 lb-ft @ 3200 rpm)

Maximum power: 257kW (350 hp @ 6000 rpm)

Already aftermarket providers are claiming outputs of 294 kW and 560 Nm of torque, not something that I'm ever likely to do!

I heard from a friend today that they knew of at least one in Canberra was leaking around number 2 cylinder, but I don't know if the head was replaced.

Wind, unequal tyre inflation factors as well
What speed do you tow at?
Some people say the tyres make a difference. How they do I’ve no idea

I reckon a lot of dual axle trailers/caravans are not heavy enough at the front and have a higher centre of gravity. 3 horse angles have a low CoG

I heard in the Touareg, the space saver is actually not inflated so it can fit into space so a pump is supplied.

How often do people change their horse float and caravan tyres?.

Diesels attain much greater torque but not the revs and overall run cooler.
Did Ford think that the target group for the Focus would be retirees driving on a leisurely Sunday?

It might be how you're packing the horses. Top Gear had some suggestions on that....

Correct in a lot of 3 horse angle floats, the CoG tend to be behind the dual axles. That’s why when I got mine built I extended the front by 600mm, so the middle horse is directly over the axles. Even so we try to fit the biggest horse in front.
The downside of a longer float is that side wind effect is greater

Mrscove bought me another Lexus 600hl which has just had its fifth birthday. Same vendor so I think it is the fourth or fifth he has pre-used and then sold onto me. He waited almost 2 years for his new Lexus 500 with twin turbos so I had to wait for his cast off.
All I have to do is fit a radar detector as I really like avoiding speeding tickets. The detectors are legal in WA.

Actually I have never bought a new car so all of mine have been used.
Will know more about the fine avoiding device next week. I certainly don’t want to block a radar/laser device but just need to know when I am approaching one.
I don’t think the tax collector knows what is on board my car.
Of course I miss paying fines on credit cards so I miss out on that point earning opportunity.
