So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

Can anyone enlighten me on what the stereotype for an Audi owner is?

Just asking for a friend...;):D

Agree with @jb747 about the high correlation of blonde women with black X5s. It also seems to extend to Rangies in my observations.

Just google Audi drivers. Lots of videos and links

Land Rover sell a fair number to “executive” women

Of course as with any stereotype there are exceptions. Even for Audi drivers

Then earlier this year there was the attempt by a Tesla driver trying to use autopilot function as a defence against a DUI charge.

Cars seem to stereotype their owners:
Volvo drivers
Commodore drivers
Audi drivers
And now Tesla Drivers
Funnily enough a friend of mine had a Volvo for a while. He said he had to start driving like the stereotypical Volvo driver because that was how everyone treated him to start with. I.e. they would cut him off, so he had to start getting in first before they did.

He is not driving like a Volvo Driver. Volvo drivers don't get in first. They are slow to accelerate and coast to brake and let everyone in - perpetually on a Sunday drive. He is noticing the other drivers are assuming he is a Volvo driver so they can cut in with impunity. Therefore by getting in first he is driving like an Audi driver;)

Lol I’ve never heard all these things about Volvo or Audi drivers, must be a generational thing / I googled about Volvo and now understand the origins of safety first from the 80s. I guess Audi’s are more appealing to females because of their softer design lines as well but I know plenty of rev head guys with Audi’s too.

My mate works at Volvo and the new model XC40 (X2 competitor) has flown out the door apparently with all the inner city hipsters, you can’t get one until September! Has anyone managed to test drive one / snap one up yet? They look hot especially the launch editions, I’m trying to swing some favours to get a look in...

I guess there will be a potential move by some early adopters toward a commuter / city car (all electric) and my a larger Hybrid SUV for long haul driving?
Either way, I suspect that until a national infrastructure is in place, the internal combustion engine is here for a lot longer yet!

Well you and I are going to be driving our i/c convertibles for a while yet.

Had another look at the RR Velar.
For some reason I find the VW Golf to have more legroom than the Velar. Golf has foot rest for right foot (for cruise control periods) while Velar does not

Additionally the Velar only has Park Assist and Adaptive cruise control in models HSE and above. SE models and lower need a factory option!!. Any car over $100k should have adaptive cruise. But then apparently RR adaptive cruise control can exceed set speed going downhill if there is no car ahead. Golf has adaptive cruise which maintains speed going downhill

The air suspension is very very nice. Very easy to get into

And possible to change Space Saver to full size spare. Eats into boot space though

And roof rails are an option too!!!. An AWD wagon should always have roof rails!!

Positives for any car is:
Full sized spare
Adaptive cruise with speed control
Right foot rest

Agree about the full sized spare. Any car that can't carry one won't be considered.

Don't care about the right foot rest, but do like proper left foot ones.

Dislike adaptive cruise.

Air suspension is doubly nice if you are towing, not that I expect to see many Velars in the caravan parks.

I have automatic parking in the S3, and to be honest I've only ever used it to see how it works.

Don't have roof rails on the RRS, and won't be adding any. If you need to pack on the roof, you've got too much stuff.

The right foot rest is good if under cruise control. What’s is it about adaptive CC that you don’t like?. Too much distance to car in front?.

Have you towed anything yet in the RRS?
I wish I could test drive a vehicle while towing
I like the Access Mode when the RRS lowers itself when parked

Got my RS Focus back today. When I dropped it off on Tuesday I was given details as to what would happen. First a pressure test, if that was satisfactory then the head gasket would be replaced. If it failed the pressure test then the head and the gasket would be replaced. Mine only needed the gasket, which doesn't surprise me as I haven't really driven it like I stole it.

Did your RS have the gasket problems when you brought it in for the recall.
