So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

Not well thought through at all.
If they really want to do that then signage needs to be visible some significant distance prior to the location. The massive and fully laden B doubles would take significant time and distance to slow down - maybe 100-150m
Not well thought through at all! How do people find out about this rule? TV? Radio? Newspapers? I had no idea about this rule and expecting me to slow down from 110km/h to 40km/h is sheer stupidity and will cause more than enough accidents.

Ignorance is not, and never has been, a defence. As a licensed driver you are responsible for knowing the rules of the road.

And if you can't slow to 40kph without notice, you would therefore not be able to stop without notice. This would be a contravention of the basic tenet requiring all drivers to drive safely to the conditions. I.e. you would be considered 'driving in a manner dangerous'.

Oh, and as someone who has often worked at the side of the road with lights on and drivers speeding past, these laws are not before time. SA has had a requirement to slow to 25kph past emergency vehicles for many years - the sky has not fallen.

So I decided to take a sentimental journey through the first 30 or so pages of this thread , and I began to wonder , who has bought and sold again since those early days, and what have they thought about the decisions made back then?
I for one still have my CX 9 , the MG is still going, (albeit with the occasional visit to the mechanic) and at +50 years of age is beginning to need parts replaced. the latest replacement part is the starter motor, let’s see if I get another 50 years wear from the new one !

I think that it’s a sensible law, what isn’t sensible is the lack of warning. Maybe more thought around how motorists are warned of said emergency vehicle on side of road needs to be given.
I guess it would (in an ideal world) be a big advantage to have a much wider safety lane on highways. But I guess the cost of that will be too great for that

I own a 2016 Toyota Corolla. I worked really hard and bought it outright with no loans or handouts on top of full time study, so I value her as I would a fancy car.

When I'm interstate I generally like anything Toyota, sometimes the Hyundai i30, but I'd say that the Corolla and Rav4 are my favourites to drive.

I reckon also look at VW Polo (not a usual rental vehicle unfortunately)

I had opticoat and since then Brilla for another car. Cost depends on who applies it and what you want it on. I get it done for the wheels as well.

El cheapo opticoat installers try to apply the entire 20ml of opticoat per car. The guy I use does a spray on.

If in Sydney I would send you to Frank of Definitive Detailing. he is happy to do yours on a weekend

He's really good. I got my RS3 done with him.

Do other coating enthusiasts find that the windscreen is also coated ?
Mine has this layer that doesn't come off and it is never perfectly clean… with oblique light the coating is streaky and visible.
It's going in for a service soon and I will ask the qld stealer about it as it was done as a part of a new vehicle package ( in Melbourne)
