So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

But RK there are only two of you; why do you need 3 cars? :p

Well actually at the time of the pic there were another 2 you can't see parked in the carport to the right of the garage.
One was sold shortly after, but the other an SUV remains so its 4 driveable cars and a WIP in the garage.
Now these cars each have different uses. The red Celica is MrsRKs mainly going to work car. The WRX is the shopping trolley. The Porsche is for those sunny but not too hot days when we can go topless and the SUV is for dirt tracking. (We won't mention the WIP as it too is topless).
Makes perfect sense. Simples!!!

You can never have to many cars. There is only 2 of us and have 4 cars, 2 in Adl for daily use and 2 in Syd. Syd cars - 1 is a WIP, also topless and from 1928, the driver is from 1948 my dad has extra garage space and stores them for me and takes the driver out every now and again.

Not that exciting. I bought in 1973 to replace the Bolwell I had to sell to be able to build a house. A cheap to run Triumph Spitfire. It was 10yo then so 56 yo now. I drove it until 1987 when I took off the road to replace the floors and sills. Things escalated from there with a Kent motor and gb installed because I became tired of rebuildi g the Triumph gb every 6 months due to a circlip breakage. Original idea was to turbocharge as I had a friend who had very successfully turboed several Kent motors. He had a Spitfire too which really was quick.
I use the term WIP very loosely as no work for the last 27 years. :(:(

......

Friend dropped his Harley a couple of weeks ago, broke both the tibia and fibula in one leg......
Father in law was teaching his wife to be to ride his motor bike (Royal Enfield?) back in the early 40s - of course it fell over on her and she broke her leg, just before she was supposed to be matron of honour at her sister's wedding. They had to get a friend to take her place and FIL got a fine from the police over the accident. In the papers that came from his. place after his death we have his original licence card with the police notation on it. :p

My "girl's bike" is a pita to refuel as it blows back from the pressure trace in the bowser nozzle.
Refuelling in the wilds of South America, I forgot to fold the side stand before attempting to push it away from the bowser for the next bike.
There was this timeless moment as I caught my foot and struggled not to drop it as one of the tour minders made a huge lunge to help me save it. Superman won on his own and there was applause all round from the audience leaning on their steeds and enjoying the show.

To be fair the price was set above the instant writeoff ($20k) at the timewhen it was released in OZ. But nicely within the new limit now. However waiting period of 12-18 months for the car with no discounts negotiable - such is the demand

So more a labour of love

Not my car, but today on my morning push bike ride I passed a very good "daily driver' 1969/70 Holden Kingswood Station Wagon - with bucket seats. Holden HT - Wikipedia As I was admiring it the owners came out from the house opposite where it was parked. They were both in their mid to late 80's. I reckon he probably bought it as his retirement car and been driving it ever since! It passed me a few minutes later purring along very quietly.
