So, what music are you listening to now?

What sort of amp and speakers are you using, or maybe headphones?

Still got most of my vinyl, 33 and 45, plus dad’s old stuff including 78’s.

Problem is Max, really don’t want to have him investigating that spinning thing.

I was in JB earlier and the price of vinyl was jaw dropping, mind you the ones I looked at were the coloured variety. I walked out with a couple cheapie cds of Len Bridges and a John Mayer.

The boss also says I play things too loud……. :(
My main speakers are Australian made Richter Wizard. I also have Bose Acoustimass 5.
Unfortunately my NAD Amp isn't something easy to fix so I'm now using a nothing special Yamaha Receiver. I can let you know the model number if you want.

When I'm in Merimbula, I like to visit a second hand record shop in Bega.
Most of his stuff is well priced.

So music buffs, who here is into vinyl?

I just purchased a Rega Planer turntable to replace my 80's Onkyo that needs fixing.
My collection doesn't consist of many records but I thought I may as well relive my youth, open a good bottle of red, sit back and have a listen.
The alternative is that the records just sit there doing nothing, not even gathering dust.
Always coveted a Rega Planar when I was in my early twenties. Never had the spare dosh. I do have a top end Yamaha direct drive TT bought in 1980 in Japan when the FX was ridiculous. Also the Yamaha NS100M's still going strong.

My 3020 needs repairing too. I also have a pair of Audio Master Image 2's (really they are Kef) from 1977 that have a nice warm sound.

Thanks for the tip re Bega. MrsProzac hails from the district and so we travel down every now and then.

I have a now non used Linn Sondek with Grace arm and Supex MC cartridge from 78 if anyone is interested!

My first copy of Requiem was a tape, pre cd the only way to hear decent music miles from anywhere was tape..
Not a huge fan of SB but really liked the requiem collection and have used Pie Jesu for funeral music , clever cookie ALW.
I wasted a lot of money over the years on tapes that all quickly deteriorated to nothingness.
Makes one wonder from a business perspective why they started cd's..great quality but they last.
I really need to dig out my Lp boxes, there may be a few gems therein.

This is currently my "top of the pops" and a new favourite Mezzo in Marianne Crebassa

I probably need to go to some garage sales and see if there are any records for sale.
If anyone is ever in ADL, there are 2 shops in the CBD that sell new and second hand. My pick, owned by a nice young bloke is Clarity Records on Pulteney St.
2 or 3 minutes walk away is Rerun Records.

Not long ago I picked up a couple of boxes of, mainly, classical records plus sadly a couple of empty Hendrix sleeves. The person giving them away left them in the carport during that period in Sydney where it rained for months. The moisture sucked up through the concrete slab into the cardboard boxes and so all the albums were just a little damp. Why are people so dumb. Anyway I managed to get them all dried but it was an effort.
