So, what music are you listening to now?

I just purchased from a place in the US, The Rolling Stones - Studio Albums Collection 1971 - 2016 for AUD 19.81, Marvin Gaye What's Going On $4.56 plus a couple of other albums.
It's a chance I'm taking as to what arrives (quality and so forth) and I'm happy to look at it as though I'm trying a new wine.
It could be $40 well spent or money down the drain.

Edit to add:
Happy to PM anyone a link to where I purchased but buy at your own risk like I did.

I heard a song here in Bangkok that was the most popular song in Lonnie the last 2 years I worked there. Grew to love it, Particularly after it was the first song on the car radio as I drove away after climbing Ben Lomond.

So I have to sort through a few things, I’m starting with my cd collection, didn’t realise I had so many, :) So far only 4 duplicates……..
Then I start on my records, sigh, sort through my t-shirts and rally memorabilia, then think about sorting all my books including the many I got from Dad when he died, far too much stuff…….

I bet you've got a nice collection of records too. What do you have for a turntable?

Sorry, only just seen this @Buzzard

I have one I bought in the UK in 1985 was a Revolver, I couldn’t afford a Linn LP12.

I also bought a Nakamichi Cassette Player and Heybrook HB2 speakers, amp was a Quad 405-2 and 34 preamp.

When I went back to the UK in 1989, I updated the preamp to a 66 along with a 66CD player, love the remote!

Now I have a Linn, but it needs to be set up properly.

However, always lusted after a valve amp, so I saw this ex demo unit online, so what the heck, it’s only money……

Two Quad QII Forty monoblocked power amps and a Quad QC Twenty Four preamp.

The speakers now are Epos m15.2 floor standers.

Interesting to see what the boss says when she gets home……

Every Christmas there's the same old chat about "Fairytale of New York" and that word, and those other apparently offensive words too. I particularly love the lyric: MacGowan: "I could have been someone". MacColl: "Well so could anyone". The song has charted again since his death so expect to hear the song more than usual this Christmas and have his death mentioned every single time it's played (and probably the next several too).

I always enjoy checking out my year in replay as curated Apple Music. It’s a great reminder of the many tracks I’ve consumed over the year and it’s always interesting to see how my music “fixations” shift from one year to the next.

#1 artist? A new discovery for me in ’23 in the form of Swiss/German symphonic metal group, “Ad Infinitum”

#1 album on rotation? A throwback to my (slightly) younger years courtesy of the 20th anniversary re-release of Linkin Park’s sophomore album, “Meteora”. Vale Chester, gone way too soon 😞

#1 genre? No great surprise to see it was “Metal”🤘(which I do enjoy, but my tastes are honestly far more eclectic)

Then, there’s always the surprise entry, this time courtesy of the #1 song. I was expecting to see perennial favourites “Muse” in top spot with one of their tracks that’s consistently on high rotation for me…

But no! In a shock first place for 2023 was a singer/songwriter I’d never heard of prior to August last year, with a song that was released even later than that and a music genre I’d never paid any attention to before in my life…

How あいみょん’s (Aimyon’s) song “Not OK” ended up as my #1 for the ‘23 is somewhat of a mystery, but I guess this is what happens when you start using J-Pop as one of several tools in the quest to learn a language. And besides… I reckon it’s pretty catchy ;)

Happy music listening in 2024 folks!!😄

Be careful googling this, especially if at work. Girl and Girl.

As always, beer commercials tell us what to do, and if you've seen a Byron Bay beer ad recently, then you've heard the terrific "Dance Now".

Here's a link to their EP "Fight Night", which has 5 of the freshest and most promising songs I've head in a while. Gives me great hope for the future of our music scene. BNE-based trend-setters get a last chance to catch them next week before they're off to the UK. Wider commercial success is a certainty, perhaps a few songs in the Hottest 100 this year.

"Dance Now" is the second song in but stick around for my current favourite "Divorce 2", the last track.
