Spice bar at Melbourne Qantas Domestic Business Lounge

I also had the chicken and rice today.

I then wandered off to the Qantas Club and interestingly the food over there was the same, except for the Spice Bar menu. Some minor differences like ham & pea instead of corn soup, lemon slice instead of apple slice but the salad bar and chili con carne was the same on both sides. That about rounds out the entire food offering.

I did notice that too. But I also noticed the English and Afghani cricket teams were in there so maybe that's why 😂. Meanwhile the Aussies were in the J lounge

For Melbourne I wouldn't have thought it was a quiet period. It's a long weekend for a lot of people due to Melbourne Cup and I believe most of the flights were near full.

But do those Mum & Dad travellers taking the kids for a quick holiday tend to have lounge access?

Also as it gets closer and closer to the last flight of the day there are less and less people left at the airport with lounge access. By closing the QP early and leaving just the J lounge open QF can save some money.

That's fairly normal during quiet periods (sadly).
Chairman’s Lounge was open. “Brian” and his three female companions let us know that. His guests perhaps had a bit too much to drink and were not navigating the stairs. ( Escalator was U/S). I ended up taking the lift. As for the behaviour of the guests, as Effie would say:

In the MEL J lounge this evening. Options are -

- Three cup chicken with bok choy and jasmine rice
- Sichuan braised mushroom with jasmine rice and cucumber

Both were nice, particularly the chicken which was tender and flavourful, and even better with a bit of a jazzing up with with the condiments bar to the left. Went back for seconds.

Not sure what the target demographic for travel that weekend was, nor their level of access.

My observation was that this was not a quiet period. The closure of the QP resulted in a rather packed J lounge with hardly any seats available. I think they would have had enough demand at the time I was in to also have the QP open.

Offering on Friday 11th. The three cup chicken was quite good and just the right amount of chilli! Chicken was tender

Offerings last week. Had the pork.. it was OK but did not blow my mind. I would say when I was there there was a queue and the chef was a bit hurried dishing up...

I couldn't find a Brisbane domestic business lounge thread other than one that is closed, so apologies for the off-topic post, but what do they serve there for food nowadays around dinner time?

Presumably this was the mapo tofu? Maybe they brought in a Chinese cook who threw Neil's recipe in the bin 😂 (where it belongs!!)
Haha I think so. I saw actual chilli bits. Usually I add a lot of the kimchi to spice it up.
The other option was the chicken above.

Nothing special last time I was through. The Mexican/hot food serving area hasn’t been operational for a while
