SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

tixhr1146270137.jpeg Enjoyed our F flight from MEL on Saturday, just myself, the gentleman and MasterC in the cabin. The crew were great and it was good to be able to spread out for meals and sleeping.

Pretty well YES - dates / schedule YES - upgrade in class you need pay extra - what changes are you looking to achieve?

Date change, the same level of award is available on the new date. Bit of a hassle with the family holiday as the brother in law's moving to a 7 day shift roster and the days off don't fit well with the booked award dates.
Anyway SWMBO is still thinking as the other 2 connecting awards will cost $480 to change. I was just checking details and was surprised to find no obvious fee for a date change.

Passing on my experience with a waitlist that cleared today. I have two (myself and mum) saver redemptions Brisbane to Penang in J with a paid stopover in Singapore for 4 nights on 4 June. Wife also coming but originally she could not leave Brisbane until 6 June to join us. About a month ago wife said she could now get away with mum and I so waitlisted wife for 4 June. Had to phone SQ to do that due to paid stopover.

At time of waitlist booking there were 15 vacant seats on our flight in J. Received email this morning that waitlist has cleared 2 weeks out. Had to phone to SQ to book the waitlist. All done quickly and now have confirmed booking for the wife. Upon checking the seat availability now 13 vacant seats in J. We now have 3 saver redemptions in J on the one flight.

As to the Singapore to Penang flight in J with Silk Air I am on the first flight and mum and wife are on the next flight. Told no chance of 3 saver redemptions in J on Silk Air.

Currently nesting in MEL SKL F - and so begins another Champagne transfusion:

Albeit Moet ATPIT:

Krug / PH Rare / Krug sequential intake begins in 1hr 10mins and counting.

First news am greeted with lounge tonight is that Cafe Vue have been shafted as lounge providors and replaced by a Sydney mob Trippers White - apparently they currently supply SKL in SYD and PER.

Change took effect on Wed 18th - first change they make is no buffet hot food in F section - you need to wander over to J section to take in your buffet rations.

But staff will wander amongst F guests and ask basically 'What would you like? We can prepare anything!' Now I didn't test them even though the girls almost twisted my arm up my back - Cruiserette has me on. Diet - she said if that TwiigyK can lose 10kg why can't I? Thanks Jognny - look what you have done now. Seriously girls said they have vast array of food they can prepare for F pax - no idea what they can produce. What is state of play in SYD F?

Changes makes little diff IMHO - as long as plonk cold then I'm a happy little vegemite.

Waitlist

Waitlist:
I feel very stupid asking this but could someone update me on the waitlist process. I am looking at a trip to France for 3 months in June, July or August (an very flexible) and would like Premium Economy or Business but know so little that I am not sure if the wait list applies to Economy only. I need to end up in Toulouse but plenty of flights within Europe can get me that last bit. Appreciate any advice for an old bloke
Steve

Steve any class can be W/L if showing no availability - you must have sufficient KF pts to proceed to W/L any flt.

Have you logged into SQ site and checked if flt available? That is your first step - and then just follow your nose from there.

Assuming they don't have immediate availability, your options may look like this, and you just need to select the "Waitlist" option:

Steve how many points do you have and where are the housed now?

Abdul, I gather that is showing in J?

Re: Waitlist

Steve, I gather you are coming from Wagga Wagga, sorry Vagga Vagga? You don't mention this and it is not shown in your profile. Never mind it doesn't make any difference as I cannot find any SQ seat availability ex CBR. SYD-SIN-CDG return shows up some shocking numbers for me. Maybe the brains trust can do better? Booking as 2 singles is more reasonable and shows availability for approx 150k each way depart Syd 14/6 return ex CDG 14/9.
As Abdul indicates you may do better into LHR. The reason I ask where your points are warehoused now is that MH have discounted LHR fares atm.
"Get ready to set off on your London vacation with up to 70% off Enrich Miles. Admire brilliant views from the top of the London Eye before you discover rich heritage and cuisine in the charming capital. Redemption period : Now till 23 May 2016 Travel period : Now till 30 June 2016"

Excuse me for going OT but I have found the following on MH for 127,500pts + AUD$850 fees/taxes. MH J 12/7 KUL-LHR, MH J 4/10 LHR-KUL
edit: SYD-KUL-LHR 14/6 J return 13/10 = 195,500 + $1,207

Thanks for all the feedback. I stupidly put this in the SQ area only so have now repeated in the general area. I was born and bred in Wagga but have just returned to Anna Bay (north of Newcastle ) after 7 years in Angola. " You can get the boy out of the country but you cant get the country out of the boy". Departure will be from Sydney

Not wanting to one-up anyone, but this may be food for thought.
I have 4 saver redemptions and 1 standard on SQ J in September for a family holiday.

Is there an official AFF record? Cruiser, surely you'd know the theoretical maximum? (And I apologise if I offend you by suggesting you'd know anything outside of Suites.....)
Regards,
Peter
