SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Anybody experienced the new Senator F in ZRH? Old one was a disgrace but new one looks fab in pics - I deliberately chose to fly back out of FRA in Jul specifically to avoid old ZRH Senator lounge and whilst FRA Senator is good new ZRH looks big step up again.

The new Senator & F lounges look pretty good.

Though as far as I am aware you only get Senator access on SQ even if in Suites. For the F lounge you have to be in F on LX or LH or have status ie: HON Circle.

I am due to fly out of ZRH in January so am interested in checking out the whisky bar even if it will be breakfast time.

Correct to get into Swiss F you must be flying LX F or LH F or HON - bit like TPR only for SQ R/F pax.

Senator for *A F pax or whoever- have you exp old Senator in ZRH Sponser? It was shocking - new one looks fabulous.

Hey guys, I'm in need of another 1300 elite miles to make it to silver before may 31st.

Have a couple of trips booked July onwards but those won't help.

Was thinking of just booking the cheapest ticket from Sydney to Singapore and doing a no show but seems such a waste... Any other bright ideas?

I'd get the 125% earn rate for the trips that I have July onwards which is making me contemplate the above. I won't ever be in a position to go gold, just don't travel enough.

You would have to work out if the extra cost of getting the status is worth the value that you would actually get out of it.

Not flown out of ZRH before but looking at old photos compared to the new it looks like there is no competition.

I will admit we are only flying out of ZRH this trip as we will be in PRG prior and I couldn't get availability out of FRA and I wanted to avoid an extra trip back to LHR and the UK departure tax.

Hi all, just wondering if it is possible to gain arrivals access to TPR if you have an outbound flight a few days later. We are flying in to SIN on the 10th of Sep and then back out again on the 12th, Both flights in R. Was hopping to swing by TPR on the way out on the 10th to grab some dinner before heading to our hotel in the city. I have read that SQ don't allow arrivals access unless you have a connecting flight so I figure the answer is no, but thought it was worth asking people in the know :)

Absolutely you can enjoy same day arrival access into TPR - this is an unpublished benefit but is honoured unequivocally on presentation of you BP.

Looking at the link CE provided to the ZRH Senator lounge does say that F SQ pax can enter. I'll be there in early August, I forget the date off hand - too busy enjoying NYC.

There's room for 170 passengers drawn from the Senator ranks of the Swiss/Lufthansa Miles & More program and Star Alliance Gold members, along with first class passengers on other Star Alliance airlines such as Singapore Airlines.

My answer provided additional information for those who might be flying the route.

F cl passengers getting upset they can't access the F lounge at ZRH is not uncommon. Providing accurate information helps to manage that.

Thanks Cruiser, that's good to know. I figure we can enjoy both Dinner and Breakfast in TPR that way as our flight ex SIN to LHR leaves in the morning.

bwhouse - we flew SYD SIN last year in R with an overnight stop in the city before flying on to DXB next day. Went straight to TPR on arrival for a drink and snack before collecting our luggage (sitting all on its lonesome in the arrivals hall) and then headed to our hotel.

Thanks Bazzi, that's a good point I hadn't thought about the luggage issue. Not sure I would want to leave our luggage unattended for that long. That complicates things.

No it doesn't - your luggage will be as safe as a church - leave it for hours and go and collect it anytime

haha I am probably just paranoid. I have seen people pick up the wrong bags way too many times.

I agree with CE and he will correct me if I am wrong as he is the SQ Guru - in our case we collected our luggage approx 90mins after landing. We were actually surprised that it hadn't already been taken to lost property (which seems to be the unofficial 'left luggage' for arrivals at SIN) as would be the case if you were staying in one of the airport transit hotels and haven't been able to inter line your luggage due to a change in carrier for your onward flight i.e. LCC. You would then just clear customs/immigration next day, collect luggage and check in for onward flight. We have done this without any concerns.

Correct - at one point in time SQ would not allow bags to through check to final dest if you were o/n in SIN - you had to collect and re-check - I would just go collect them next morn and re-check - never a problem.

Correct. that's what I said :)

My point of clarity is that there is no such thing as a 'Senator F' (first) lounge. Calling that creates confusion, with many pax thinking they can actually get into the (real) F lounge. Which they can't (limited to LH/LX/HON)
