SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Hey guys, I'm in need of another 1300 elite miles to make it to silver before may 31st.

Have a couple of trips booked July onwards but those won't help.

Was thinking of just booking the cheapest ticket from Sydney to Singapore and doing a no show but seems such a waste... Any other bright ideas?

I'd get the 125% earn rate for the trips that I have July onwards which is making me contemplate the above. I won't ever be in a position to go gold, just don't travel enough.

Bugger, wasn't aware of that. I guess no chance then, unless I email the staff and see if they are feeling generous enough to extend my deadline.

You could book a trip to somewhere you'd like to go. For instance SYD-AKL is 1342nm or 2682 return. A cheap Y fare can be had on Virgin, just apply your SQ number to the booking. You can do this with any *A partner.

I need 3946pts for KF status. I was considering a SYD-NAN flight for 1971pts each way so alas 3942 return. I may consider flying via BNE on way over.

I'm booked on SQ 218 on the 20th May with a flexi saver economy fare but thinking about upgrading this to a full Y fare for AUD$250 to request an upgrade with velocity points.

A few q's:
Is there any way I can find out the likelihood of a points upgrade from full Y to J on this flight?
Is it worth it to pay an additional $250 + points to upgrade to J in the 777-300er? Am guessing it's the older J from reading other posts?
Also I get an error message in the manage my booking as I originally opted to credit points to Velocity, any idea how to change this?

Anybody experienced the new Senator F in ZRH? Old one was a disgrace but new one looks fab in pics - I deliberately chose to fly back out of FRA in Jul specifically to avoid old ZRH Senator lounge and whilst FRA Senator is good new ZRH looks big step up again.

A belated welcome to AFF fitzy. You've taken a while to raise your head above the parapet?

Bit confusing CE - there is not really such thing as a Senator 'F' lounge. Senator lounges are star alliance gold lounges (all classes), which also happens to be the highest category lounge available to first class pax on star alliance airlines outside of LH and LX.

There is a 'true' First class lounge, but only for HON and LH/LX F.

Regardless - the new senator lounges do look pretty cool! Although I'm not so sure I think the equivalent in FRA are much good. I think they're more along the lines of a business class lounge.

Very excited to advise that we have booked our first suite class redemption ever for our honeymoon in May 2017, SYD - SINx- CDG with a 6.35 hr layover in Changi so we can utilise TPR.

Any tips on meals, seats, service/facilities are all welcome!

We plan to spend 4 weeks in Europe starting in Paris, Italy and the Greek islands!

Now we can start the planning for internal flights and accommodation. I have yet to book the return leg as it is not released yet.

Woohoo! so excited.

So which lounge do SQ F travelers use in ZRH?

AND, how is the quality of it?

They use Senator Lounge - <redacted> The old Senator Lounge in ZRH was a disgrace - last year Jul 5 when we departed it was like 30C that day in ZRH yet lounge was like a sauna - I asked dragons on entry if they could adjust air con - there response was it is summer so is hotter then norm.

Senator Lounge in FRA was far superior but new Senator F in ZRH looks fabulous - info here.

As that link shows, there is a Senator E (as in terminal E) lounge. Not an F lounge. The reason for clarity is that some *A F class pax get confused - thinking they have access to an F lounge (and indeed present themselves at the F lounge wanting admission). Sadly not the case.

<redacted>

Any chance we can get back to my original Q? Any body tried the new Senator Lounge E which is where SQ R/F pax head to pre boarding?

My answer provided additional information for those who might be flying the route.

F cl passengers getting upset they can't access the F lounge at ZRH is not uncommon. Providing accurate information helps to manage that.

The Q was asked earlier on thread as to whether or not R/F cabin crew would prepare coughtails beyond the list on menu. I ran this past 4 crews on 4 successive sectors recently and definitive YES from all crews - if spirits / ingredients on board they will concoct for you. One dude on one sector even whipped put his iPhone to show me his 'coughtail app'.

What a super honeymoon you're going to have. What are your flights out? Thinking of all that Krug you will be drinking, with a 6.5hr layover you might want to book a 6hr block in the transit Ambassador to rest up a little as I'm sure you won't want to waste time sleeping to much in flight even though you will have the double beds. Make sure you select those now in row 3. TPR is great but not for resting.
