SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

For something a little bit different... Mocktail report

Having 4 of them on Friday, Morning Breeze (Pineapple, Orange and 7up) was my favourite. Apple and Ginger Ale (cant remember the name) was my least favourite.

I then asked them to make a Pineapple, Lemon, lime with a splash of soda drink which I really liked but hubby found it sour - but I like sour

Sad to no longer see iced chocolate on the menu and its been replaced with milo :(

You can have your champagne, I'll take the kiddies drinks :)

Tried searching for this but the search engine won't let me.

Flying first class on a 777ER to SIN and 777 to HND which is the better of the two rows, row 1 or 2?

Personal preference - but I always take row 2. Row 1 has the most foot traffic and is closest to the WC and galley. Row 2 gives you more sense of space (no wall right in front.)

TBH I have never seen or heard of a situation like yours and I am sure others have not either so you are in unchartered waters.

I just have a gut feel that if both adults in F and kids are under 10 or so you might stand a good chance but that really is only a guess - good luck anyway

Thanks Cruiser, our kids are young, so unfortunately my wife and I have to split up, one adult and one child in each class.

I think this might be the first time our resident Krisflyer expert has been partially stumped on a question :)

I will let you know how it goes, I really appreciate your help. It's no big deal in any case, we will be very happy in the F lounge I'm sure

OK much clearer - I would email SQ feedback [email protected] and fully explain your situation and just ask would it be at all possible for them to grant special exemption to standard TPR entry Ts & Cs for you. SAA feedback office are very understanding - they will appreciate your approach via email instead of just rocking up - they will forward your tequest to SKL Mgmt who will make the call and may just allow you in.

One thing I can guarantee is if you do not ask they will not grant. Good luck - personally I would be kinda hopeful of a positive response if you approach it correctly.

Saturday I was in deep discussion with IFS on 831 PVG-SIN on a variety of matters - he indicated that on board Operations Manual has been re-written and provision of 'Sleeper Suits' and 'Amenity Kits' is no longer based on long haul or short haul criteria. Criteria is now simply 'day' and 'night' flight duration I asked could I take a photo of relevant sections but totally against company policy so he volunteered to write information for me:

Pretty simple now - any flt over 7hrs you get jarmies and amenity kits - flts that are greater than 3.5hrs and dep bw hrs 18:00 and 06:00 also get jarmies and amenity kit. Flt duration is scheduled gate to gate rather than actual flying time.

I hope this is clear for everybody.

This is only F to confirm? Still a good development...

just booked my parents and brother on SQ J to LHR for next April.

My mum hasn't been back to Scotland since her family came over as 10 pound poms.

It'll be my parents first international flight. hopefully they'll cope. any turbulence and my mum will likely never get a a plane again

i'm hoping to score a CX J / F flight over in may to use up my alaskan miles

I was on SQ241 last Friday, no satay.

Breakfast was a light continental (which I slept through) and lunch was full service and the entrée was tuna with watercrest salad.

SQ211 earlier this month. Satay in J.

Then served main meal and a snack closer to landing.

I switched it around - had some cheese etc after take off and deferred my book the cook until 2nd service.

Just had my last SQ flights of a December/January trip to Europe confirmed and had a slightly strange occurrence.
Anyway now our flights are all locked in:
SQ214 PER-SIN B772 J
SQ452 SIN-MLE B772ER J
EY279 MLE-AUH J A321 (but it looks like this is usually a A332 so fingers crossed)
EY11 AUH-LHR A388 Apartments (If availability on EY19 shows up I will probably switch over for the more civilised departure and arrival time)
SQ345 ZRH-SIN A388 Suites
SQ223 SIN-PER B772 J ( I have a waitlist for SQ215 to give us some more TPR time)

Got some very welcome emails notifying me of some aircraft swaps from SQ & EY today.
SQ226 has switched from a 2-2-2 to a 1-2-1 config B772 & EY279 has switched from a 2-2 A321 to a 1-2-1 A333.

Interestingly there is an F cabin with 8 seats on the EY flight. There are no award or revenue seats for sale in F though but I am hoping if they do open them up as I am on an AA award I can snag them for no extra cost. Alternate plan will be tosee if I can get the check in agents at MLE to move our seat allocations there if they do not go on sale.

Anybody here with much experience using KF miles to book AC flts? Elly cannot find availability for me for specific dates I desire and she cannot ever remember booking any customers previously on AC rdpts - I thought the knowledge bank here might be best bet. Any knowledge as to when / if AC release seats for *A rdpts?

This is what I am faced with for comm tix:

That specific flight is open with available award space (it comes up on UA at a business saver award level). A couple years back UA was having difficulty ticketing Rouge flights, that's fixed now, but according to this facebook excerpt it looks like SQ can't? (Unfortunately I don't know the exact date (year) of this post - could be 2016 or 2015... but it indicates they are/were having problems.)

Our next Suites runs in May are showing 7 and 6 passengers out of the 12 Suites available. It's almost Krug time. We will overnight at the Crowne Plaza at Changi to split the flying.

Tks MEL - as I posted I spoke with Elly over the phone this morn - SQ call ctr in SIN night shift have a crew of 15 agents / 3 leaders who manage both SQ and KF inquiries - Elly asked around and few had much exp booking *A rdpts at all - I was really surprised - she said she can only see on their screen current availability on different dates - no AC biz availability for date reqd and nobody in there had much knowledge of possibility of seats opening up - so I guess it's a waiting game huh.

United is showing plenty of coach availability on UA metal for various times of the day. Those should be easy to book. As far as Air Canada Rouge goes it seems you might be out of luck as per the FB post.
