SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Yes I think so GarrettM. We have zillions of Kris miles but we are maxed out on redemption nominees unless I use my brother's account. Better get moving is what we are thinking.

1-2-1 so I guess that is Diamond
Ah huh - and it would have been 77W - indeed these seats whilst huge are not the greatest to 'sit' in - if you can tolerate sitting at an angle they are really good - but I cannot for longer than 10mins - these are SQ's long haul J seats - the 2-2-2 Weber seats are regional product - go figure.

I have some hip/back issues (not sure which, having some tests today!) so am probably a bit sensitive to seat comfort "issues". First world problem I know, any seat in J beats the pants off a seat in Y!

Quick question for the SQ gurus. SQ227 (SIN-MEL) departure @ 21:15. Could someone please advise what meal service I should expect in J? Many thanks in advance. Suz :)

Dinner and breakfast the last time I checked. You can preorder your meal selection using the 'Book the Cook' on KrisFlyer website.

Not a full menu for either dinner or breakfast though from memory. Designed to have some food in the Lounge then either a late evening meal and/or a reasonably sized breakfast but not a full service. Most people prefer to get as much sleep as possible.

IIRC the 227 is still a full service? The later red-eye is supper or breakfast. Or has there been a recent change?

You might be right. I have not flown 227 recently but doubt you would get a full dinner and a full breakfast.

227 is a full dinner service (with entree, main dessert and fruit/cheeses) and continental breakfast prior to landing (which used to be pastry and fruit, not sure if that is still the case).

Just got off the phone from SQ.

Had a redemption booking for January 2017 LAX-NRT-SIN-MEL x 2 in J - SQ made a schedule change that stuffed us around a bit so had a look online and found some saver level space on the new A350 SFO-SIN flight.

New routing: SFO-SIN-MEL all in J - Not that much less flying time but a little more direct.

In the wash of it all... I get a $1 refund.

F/Suites: carry on limits really enforced?

It may also depend on which airport. I've had my carry on weighed and rejected by customs at AKL over about 0.5kg. The bulldog wanted me to go back down and check it until I removed a leather A4 folder and said I have a two item allowance and they let me through.....work that out. I can't! (I wasn't in an F suite though)

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to cancel some saver first/suite flights that I'd booked about 12 months out. Upon searching the new dates and only 3 months out, waitlisted flights were all that was available, hence I also booked J class with Avianca LM's. So from March, when I had to cancel the original savers, I amassed about 10 outbound F waitlisted flights MEL-xSIN-EUR (the ultimate destination is AMS). I waitlisted FRA, ZRH, LHR and CDG. As a data point, I phoned SQ about 3 weeks ago and requested a chaser email and again last week.

Today, which is 7 days from the earliest date I requested, I got the SMS and email that one of the waitlisted flights had cleared. Woo hoo!! Ironically, it was the last flights I waitlisted only last Sunday the 26th June. The cleared flights are now only 9 days away and ended up being MEL-xSIN-LHR (Brexit???).

So now a question if you please? I have 2 menu items that I want to try; satay skewers and the lobster thermidor. I don't want to stuff myself in one sitting, so can someone please suggest the best option from their experience? ie. Lobster in TPR and satay ex MEL or ex SIN (I have no idea of the menu ex departure ports, although I will re-read this thread on the weekend).
