SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Re CDG specifically, only one Star Alliance lounge - separated into J and F areas. Poor food, variable wifi. You need to leave time though as Terminal 1 is a zoo

In general your J/F boarding pass will get you access to any star alliance business or first class lounge (respectively). This is lounge access based on class of service rather than star alliance status.

The major exceptions being Lufthansa and Swiss First class lounges which are reserved for LH/LX/OS F class and HON pax only, and the TPR in SIN (SQ F only).

The new Senator Lounges in ZRH are probably the pick of the bunch for F class pax. Outside Europe the TG F lounge is probably one of the better ones. I can't think of any others that jump out.

I am convinced there is something wrong. I can find heaps of availability one year out to MEL-SIN-CDG, LHR, ZUR. But nothing MEL-SIN-FRA and nothing FRA-JFK.

I'm sure everything who has successfully booked this route thinks I'm probably just a rookie who can't figure it out, but have a look for yourself..

Perhaps it has something to do with the new aircraft/cabins that are being launched this year.

I agree, you need to be patient, flexible and willing to look at least 11 months in advance. A couple of years ago, I got 2 X Suites JFK-FRAxSIN but it took a while. It is definitely the hardest Saver F seat around. Especially now with so many of our VA friends with points to burn.

wow, i just had a look at this route and even at the max T-date the savers are not available at all.. but if you go to 3/1/2018 then some savers can be waitlisted. Seems like they open standards first before savers? i never noticed that before..

It seems like they are only opening one saver seat every week or two ?

my visit back in november - i was the only person at the whiskey bar to begin with, said i didn't have a clue what to choose, so they offered me a tasting session :d

holy

sheeeeeeet

So I can access this if I fly SQ FF out of Zurich huh.... My upcoming itinerary certainly has options...

Holy moley! I am very, very much so looking forward to this in a few days time!!!

Do they give out pyjamas on day flight SIN-MEL? I figure they will on ZRH-SIN.

I had a J ticket with SWISS, but also United Star Alliance Gold trial membership. I think it was the *A status that got me access to the Senator Lounge (E terminal).

Correct... stargold = Senator Access. Business class without additional status will only get access to the Business lounges. Which are a step down from Senator.

We were the only ones drinking at 8am but managed to convince/corrupt a couple of Americans to join us in the tasting.

Unfortunately they were out of Japanese whisky, but we did manage to sample a few nicely peated Swiss examples, an Indian whisky and finish off with a few new (to me) Scotch varieties.

I know this is blasphemy but it was more enjoyable than the TPR.

I just felt sorry that our new friends were both flying US carriers home while we were about to board the best flight of our lives.

Hi All
Just a quick question regarding redemption on SQ - is it possible to redeem 4 first class tickets or suites in one flight?
cheers

We split up and do 2 on each plane. I did two this morning. My other two will be on another flight as there are plenty of flights.

You take the one you think you can handle and the big boss takes the other. Often you can be about 6 hours apart if you are going Suites to a major city like London.
We are relaxed about being on different planes on the same day or even next day.

Oh believe me, I would love to split up so we could both experience it, but she won't have a bar if it: 'It's a family holiday, we're sticking together'. Have you seen The Croods? It's like that!..haha

Show your Big Kahuna what we did for about 15 years as our little ones grew up. It beat 4 in economy by quite a bit and now they will miss us when we are gone.
MrsCrood can learn to relax as it is a holiday.

My kids are 6 and 4
The better half won't have a bar of splitting the fam up ...lol
Maybe if they were older...
The only way to guarantee is 2 saver and 2 standard tickets. We are a family of 3 so do 2 saver and 1 standard to guarantee travelling together.
