SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

You may even have to buy a ticket along with LadyC's approach if you leave booking too long.
I just finished one for next New Year to London and there was no Saver a year out for Suites. I did get Saver on our outgoing flights.

im late to the SQ party again :-) managed to book business from KUL-SIN-SYD (midnight flight on A380) via Lifemiles, just wondering any recommended seat for solo traveller ? i guess i read that no pj for J class :(, but managed to btc lobster, not sure whether i have the appetite to have it after takeoff.. really wanted my mom to try on SQ J class, but unfortunately i cant travel together with her (im leaving in April and she will be flying in either June or July), im wondering any assistance can be provided if needed, she dont speak english and never done transit at SIN on her own, and as everyone know Changi quite huge, im sure she will be lost if she did it by herself... any advise ?? assistance needed :
- once got off the plane at Changi, she need someone to bring her to the lounge
- be alerted which gate for her next ongoing flight to SYD/MEL (which terminal and whether need to take the skytrain or not)

contact Singapore airlines directly, they will advise of the appropriate assistance. It may be a wheelchair. That will ensure assistance from the plane to the lounge, and then the lounge to the onward connecting flight. With wheelchair assistance no need to worry about gates, terminals, or boarding time.

but my mom is very healthy and can walk :-) and im sure she wont be happy to be on a wheelchair..

Does she speak Chinese? no problems communicating in SIN in that's case.

If your mother is able to walk and not suffering any other impairment it might be a case of having to self walk and ask directions, and checking with the lounge on entry about boarding time and gate.

I think there is some sort of meet and greet service, but I think that runs into the hundreds of dollars (private service provider).

I've pretty much finished reading the last 12 months of this thread. My new proposed itinerary is to MEL-SIN-LHR/CDG ZUR-SIN-MEL in July or August 2018. I've given up on FRA/JFK, so many people having a hard time booking that sector. I'm doing east coast USA in June 2017 anyway, flying VA J and Delta Y+.

I'll plan a stopover in SIN on the way back, just one or two nights. I understand I'll have to book two one way sectors, but how do I go about adding in the SIN stopover? Should I search for availability on ZUR-SIN, then find SIN-MEL and call up the call centre and ask it to be booked? Or do I book ZUR-MEL online then call up and say I want to put a stopover in SIN and I want to fly home on this date?

Looking forward to flying on A380 R only, not 777 F. TPR and first class check in at SIN. Expensive champagne, I've never had caviar or lobster before. Never flown F before. Cheaper departure tax out of ZUR. Better flexibility arriving into LHR or CDG and booking 2x one way sectors.

The only unknown for me is when SQ are rolling out their upgraded suites and if the flights I'm on will be affected....

O/T: CE, you are hilarious, keep up the trip reports. I'm sure we all wonder how you get all those points and what the heck you do for work.

Dannyism you cannot add a S/O for O/W Saver - you will need to call KF call ctr.

But do I book ZUR-SIN-MEL online then call to add the stopover?

Or do I find availability on ZUR-SIN//SIN-MEL and not book online, then call to book in one swoop?

Sorry for the lack of know-how. VA scumbag drifting in on the wind..

First of all

I posted a few pages back about changing a redemption booking to suites etc and CE offered to help but I didn't end up following through (vacation took over!) Thanks for the offer CE anyway!

Second of all

Got home Monday from SFO-SIN-MEL in J with the wife.

1) 17hr is a long time to be on a plane, but found the A350 J seat in Row 11 fantastic and comparable to QF F that we flew a couple of weeks earlier!
2) First time also flying the refurb'd 777 J and it's a winner, looks much nicer now it's been refreshed.

As usual SQ was great and consistent - You might not get the bling but you know what you're going to get!

I'm glad I didn't change the booking as by the of the trip I was done with airplanes and wanted to be home. Will just have have to goto HKG for a long weekend now :)

ie

On a roundtrip saver award, you can add one stopover and one open jaw. On a one way ticket, you can only do one stopover at the standard award level (not saver). However you can add an additional stopover to any award for $100. That means you can get one additional stopover on a roundtrip saver award or one stopover on a one-way saver award ticket.

I'd call them up and discuss and search options. Search ZRH-SIN and the SIN-MEL legs you want to join as one itinerary. The call centre are amazingly helpful, and I've never had an issue with obtaining the 15% discount when asking over the phone. Plus - they can generally give you a few days to organise point transfers.. so they reserve the ticket, then you have say 5 days to complete the booking with points transferred.

That way, no risk of losing the flights whole you wait for points to transfer across.

Currently 3.36am Zurich time... Eagerly awaiting boarding in 6hrs time!

Wow. I can see one!

MEL-SIN-FRA-JFK. Suites saver redemption non-waitlist.

Max days out. How about that. Not sure I'll ever find return for 2 pax with 2 week stopover in FRA though...

+1 and I are doing this exact redemption in December so I'm happy to ready about the quality of the J product on the A350 :p

Oh believe me, I would love to split up so we could both experience it, but she won't have a bar if it: 'It's a family holiday, we're sticking together'. Have you seen The Croods? It's like that!..haha
Flight is part of the holiday but only small part of the holiday.

I know only short trip but wife and daughter flying VA back to SYD now and I am on QF. Small sacrifices are necessary otherwise I'd be paying $40-$70 for them on my flight.

Question: If I book 2 * Suites and 2 * J tickets for the identical flights, say HKG-SIN-SYD, can the Suites passengers guest the 2 * J passengers to First Class lounges at HKG and TPR at SIN?

As long as you get row 11 or row 19, it should be great. Otherwise there are a lot of people (in FT) whinging about it .....
