SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Gate checking, where possible, is much easier as otherwise I have found that you need to collect the stroller from the over sized luggage section and can be significantly longer wait than standard luggage.

Booked LHR - DPS and SYD - LHR with Singapore through Amex travel last week for some flights at the beginning of March in Y.

I can't select a seat for the SIN - LHR leg, there are none available. Any idea why? I am confirmed status. I have been able to select seats for the other legs (with limited options avail).

Only if delivered back to the aerobridge on landing ...

Delivered back to aerobridge on landing in SIN. Much rather have her stroller than a loan stroller.
It what is supposed to happen.

However I have come across anecdotes where it does not work out that way.

This happens with SQ - they don't release all seats for pre-selection. The flight is probably quite/very full. Keep on checking back or make sure you check in online the second it's open (48 hours before departure).

So after what seems like an eternity - well 72 days to be precise but who's counting - and after a series of tumultuous world events such as ... <redacted> - well it's just good to feel some sense of normality again:

But they do serve Kurg
And Dom - and RWT on board last night - I pounded that sucker like these was no tomorrow. Actually first time for a very long time I have imbibed on 218 post take off in yonks - usually it is sleeping tablet and goodnight Irene.

2012 RWT when opened way too cold - an hour after opening with temp increased the 5th and 6th glasses rather enjoyable - I was only pax drinking it.

Now FTR and if anybody was in any doubt as to how SQ is positioned V other alleged top tier F carriers re stock of the top end wines loaded last night for 5pax:

Krug 3botts
Dom 3botts
RWT 4botts
Louis Latour 4botts
Chateau Pichon

Needless to say we didn't go thirsty. And bear in mind 218 dep MEL 01:05 and arr SIN 05:45. Apparently for daytime flts they get serious and load up big time!

I'm planning a trip next year with KF points to Europe return in R/F class.
Shame about the lack of inflight bar, as I thought that's a good and easy way to meet and socialize with fellow pax...not the end of the world!

Will you be flying solo firstclasser - I have onot ever had 1 exp on EK with their bar - totally underwhelming on that flt - for the hour I was at the bar I was only pax there - and they had no Dom at bar / Moët only - dude had to run down to F to get me a glass - totally took any fun factor out of it.

I love the bar on VA - have had some fabulous exps there - I guess if SQ did have bars no doubt I would try them but not having them is no great downer IMHO.

I'll be flying with my girl friend, but considering a flight from SIN to CDG is 14 hours, I think having the opportunity to meet some other pax on the flight will be refreshing. I must say, I've never flown F class in EK either, but just assumed it will be a bar that is buzzing...apparently not!

Crikey - forget the bar mate - grab 3C/3D or 2C/2D - slide the doors closed - pull down the blinds and proceed to join that exclusive club that not all get to access - mind you you cannot lay back and have a smoke afterwards! Then both of you can proceed to giggle your way through a bottle of Krug! Anyways if they had a bar you might get stuck with guys like infinity and cove - you'll be back in your double Suite pronto!

 I was waiting to see what level of privacy you get with these suites, so thanks for answering that for me! haha
Any worries I had with the lack of bar have now evaporated

The suites offer limited privacy... you are not protected from anything more than a passing glance (there are various vantage points into the suites for the crew to check on the health, safety and wellbeing of their passengers inside :))
