SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

So that is the first time you have ever experienced SQ Diamond seats MEL? Have you ever exp the regional Weber seats?

I think once (for the A30 'new' regional). I remember thinking they were pretty good (much flatter than the MK1 skybeds QF uses now).

SQ's new diamond however are pretty sweet. An inch or two longer and they could easily pass for first class. Although you do lose width compared to the A80 version.

I'm glad i got to try out both versions as i was expecting the old style on the 777 given there was no PEY on the flight.

Haven't heard the same about the A50 though. Apparently leg room is severely restricted somehow when facing forward?

Anyone know of the travel load between SYD - SIN over the Xmas period (23rd - 24th)? Looking to do my First/Suites flight. Currently on waitlist.

Yes I too have seen that posted.

Whilst I have not flown A350 yet it seems I will be on May 5 due to a sub and 218 now not offering F/R - will reserve judgement until then.

I am looking at 2 J saver redemptions one way either from Brisbane or Melbourne around 27 August or a few days either side to Paris.

From Friday 25 August there are no saver redemptions until some waitlist availability from 28 August.

Have had a look at Expert Flyer for some of those dates and with the Melbourne flights there are only up to 4 seats already booked and the Paris flights have only 6 booked. Some of the Brisbane flights have no bookings yet. Have tried Amsterdam and Milan as well and no availability either for J saver.

Is that they are yet to release J saver seats yet?

spacebar

I flew A350 and 777 (new J) back to back in Janraury. Both bulkhead and in J. Felt the seats were exactly the same - Still a good improvement on the 'old J' which was good.

Its a typing bug
when we reply the field stuffs up and we can't type.
not sure what triggers it..sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't.

Dumb question #4... Was just looking at Flightaware at recent data for SQ222 and SQ306, plotting the last 50 days worth of flights and based on history there's a 50% chance that SQ222 will be a 3-class A388 and a 48% chance of it being 4-class (the other 2% was a 3-class 777). Being booked in PE, what would happen if we got a 3-class plane? (stats drop to 32% / 68% for SQ306)

Is there a pattern of there being PE on certain days of the week?

Doesn't appear to be and looking at the flights on a Saturday (when we're flying - 8th April) it's been 4:3 in favour of the 3-class planes....

I don't know what SQ's policy is on this. And it varies between airlines. Some airlines will upgrade pax to business class, although even that can sometimes depend on the fare paid (for example full flex gets you business, discounted PE gets you back in economy).

Some airlines may offer an upgrade coupon for use at a later time.

Perhaps a call to SQ to ask their policy? At least that will give you a starting point for you expectations.

Yes they have been released and already taken. I booked mine in September 2016

This happened on a flight I was on - due to a tech issue the 777-300ER for the flight was 3 class instead of 4 class. I got upgraded from J-F. However, if you were booked on PE your options were to upgrade to J using points or cash, or downgrade to Y and get compensation and fare difference This was ex-EU flight.
