hoping to find some wisdom here please... i have an existing booking LAX-SIN-SYD, and want to add a domestic USA flight at the start (it wasn't open when i booked the other legs as > 330 days). called the call centre who said it "couldn't be done" and "couldn't guarantee the award seats would return to availability". now i appreciate other people may have waitlisted behind me (and yes there's no saver availability online anymore), but can't they hold the seats while they cancel the original ticket, and then immediately re-book with the additional sector?
separately the domestic leg in Y is 12,500 KF points. While i appreciate this is still less than the cash fare for the flight, i really want the protection provided by being on a single ticket the whole way through.
any suggestions folks?
Yep they cannot hold seats as it is a you state you cannot change the departure point for the ticket. Others may be waitlisted and who says the SQ computer will actually put the seats back up for redemption anyway, I have canc seats in the past expecting them to return to the saver inventory and nothing, the SQ computer works in mysterious ways. If the add on was at the end of the trip it is possible to add on paying the extra fuel fees and taxes
I had the same issue a few months ago for a trip from Europe to Aus and opted for the intra Europe leg booked separately but the call centre blossom assured me the 2 bookings are linked and I will not have to collect and recheck bags at LHR. We shall see!!
Bit of a nfi question but what "protection" does the single ticket offer? Is it just the delay and missed connection thing?
