SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

In J I would not be that concerned at not getting bulkhead. Plus if a bassinet seat they might move you later anyway if someone with a baby books.

I'm the opposite... in J I would absolutely be concerned about getting a bulkhead... double the room and unrestricted leg area. I'd even take a non-window J bulkhead.

I've read mixed review on the a350 seat so was hoping for one. +1 and I like a middle pair for travelling, and front bulkhead isn't bassinet according to SQ website, but is blocked out all 4 seats, presumably for KF golds.

Maybe I need to nudge cruiser elite into having words with the powers that be

I dunno how 'blocked' they are vs someone has already grabbed them. On my SQ J flights a couple months ago I was able to select a bulkhead on the a380, but not on the 77W connecting down to Melbourne. A bulkhead opened up during on line check in (maybe that was the one reserved for bassinet).

They appear to be bookable by non-status at time of booking (if available).

i don't have any status as basically I only redeem for International Flights, rather than buy any;)

I have often booked bulkhead J seats on 77W as I like being in the small J cabin as it quieter. They often seem to use two of the seats in this cabin for crew rests too.

Normally two each time as I mainly book 2 tickets for my wife and I. But I have sometimes booked three when one of the daughters has travelled with us. In that case though I nrmally get hera window seat as she prefers that, but most times I could have booked all into bulkhead if I has wished to.

OK - if SQ don't block for non-status they must be taken. Just looked odd as there were no other seats taken and the flight is almost a year out!

Many of my bookings are booked almost a year out. Basically to the minute that bookings open. That way I get the flight and seats that I want.

Dunno - maybe it's not all bulkheads on all aircraft? A80 was open to me. 77W not. Although if pax were booking awards one year out you'd prolly pick the bulkhead, which might explain why they are the only ones gone.

For first class:

SQ SYD-SIN-FRA-JFK is 152,000 KF miles + ~$200 AUD.
EY SYD-AUH-JFK is 203,000 Velocity points + $600 USD + maybe some more taxes.
Great tip Andy and thanks for confirming my figures. I've re-run my search for F and found seats. I'm ok with the extra points required and agree taxes are reasonable compared to the charges for a VA redemption on EY in J.
Counting the days until my outbound date is released so I can book it. 34 hours is a bit long with limited time for annual leave trip compared to via LAX (10 hrs less) but if I can get suites all the way, I'm sure I can live with it. Already have wife on board for suites redemption should the redemption gods smile upon me when the seats are released.
Fingers crossed ...

Sitting at Gate A4 in T3 waiting for SQ221 and looking up at the Silver Kris lounge, wondering if there are any AFFers up there.

Bassinet seats are not blocked for status pax Lemo - you just need to call KF and request the blocked seats after booking.

SERIOUS plea to all reading - PLEASE do not tell Bacchus that I have booked 18A / D / F / K on 350 tonight ex MEL - he might call me a right royal FLOG.

Lemo make your booking and call - if no satisfaction HUACA - if you need assistance pm me.

Agree. Just call them. I did and got 11A, and the middle two for my parents and I. Amazing space. It felt like a first suite.

coughk me - can I say that? Our sub 350 for 380 has been subbed again - 77W and no advice - this mob is getting like QF!

Sorry Bacchus and Rooey that I cannot get to ride the 350 so we can have a right old cough session! Worst part is I have the steel tape all ready to take like a gazillion physical measurements of 350 v 380 J seats - sigh - I can only try.

Worst part is we fly with totally empty F cabin tonight - I am having nightmares already and am still wide awake in J!

Life wasn't meant to be easy CE.
Meanwhile I am thinking of charging up my two lithium batteries for my Resmed sleep machine ahead of an SQ long haul to London.
Our eldest son has just made it to Heathrow for a 5 day trip.
