SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Thanks, I checked that out and you are right, SQ246 is showing up in seat selection as 777-200ER (Refitted), so it is the 1-2-1 config.
Back to my original question, It would seem then that the seats on this flight are the same as on the A380 out of MEL?
https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/au/flying-withus/cabins/business-class/business-class/

Close enough to make the diversion via MEL not worthwhile, IMHO. The A380 seats are slightly wider, and IIRC slightly different compartment configuration, but functionally both seats are the same.

Stoked to say I've booked my first F/R flight from NRT to SYD with a stopover of 2 nights in SIN.
I'm heading over with the missus to Japan for the cherry blossom, so I was surprised to see somewhat decent availability for saver fares.
I'll be on SQ11 15/4 NRT-SIN on 777-300er (new config), and then SQ221 17/4 SIN-SYD on A380. There was no availability on suites heading back to Melbourne, and since I wanted to experience R, I had to fly back to SYD as that was the only availability.
Just thought I'd share the stoke here as this thread has given me lots of invaluable info to help me assist booking this trip.

I haven't booked the fare to get there, but it's more than likely I'll book it with QF or JL as they are the only airlines that fly there direct from MEL.

With one way fares in the ~$1000 ball park you might want to consider buying some lifemiles to fly business class one way for about the same price (TG via BKK).

(or jetstar one way for about $500 including bags etc)

You can now check 'Inflight Meal' for you upcoming flt to help with decision to BTC or not.

Under 'Manage Booking' beside Meal is a link 'Select/Change' - tap here then next screen gives you option to 'View Inflight Menu' or 'Select Meal' - have fun kids.

Quick question for the SQ gurus.

Flying SQ J (Redemption) from ADL-SIN-MUC shortly. I know I can guest into the SQ lounge in ADL, but wondering if I can guest into the SQ SilverKris lounge in SQ? If not, can I enter into (and guest) into the SQ Gold lounge in SIN? It's a significant layover (unfortunately), so not sure what the protocol is.

Thanks so much in advance. :)

Also interested in the answer to this. I suspect guesting 1 other pax on the same flight shouldn't be an issue, but would like to confirm.

Yup, I was flying Y once and guested in (by a colleague in J... don't ask). We had arrived on the same SQ flight from MEL, but were taking different SQ connections to different cities in India and it wasn't a problem.

Would it be stretching the friendship if I guested someone into SIN T2 KrisFlyer Gold lounge and then 3 hours later guested another person into SIN T3 KrisFlyer Gold lounge?

Anyone with any recent experience? Would they check that I guested a different person earlier? I think it's worth a shot.

Am I reading right that 'stretching the friendship' = sneaking another guest in against the T&Cs?

I would ask, but expect the answer to be no. But I'm a play by the rules kinda gal. YMMV

I thought for J pax to guest said pax had to be KF G / *G or higher? I remember back in the days when I was regular Y pax but KF G I could access SKL J lounge and also guest 1 but J pax with zero status could not guest. I have no idea if this has changed so I cannot help at all.

Hmmm, I wasn't aware whether that played a part... I was VA Plat so could access the gold lounge on my on merits flying Y, no idea what my guestor's(?) KF status would have been, if any?

KF Call Ctr staff still have not been advised of dates for new 380 on SYD route. They are expecting briefing 2 or so days prior to commencement. Briefing re recent Solitaire / PPS 'enhancements' took place 2 days prior to introduction.

You may be able to simply login and try to change your flight by selecting the day you want and J.

I have upgraded from J to F in this way.

There is no fee for this, though if taxes and charges vary you will need to pay the difference.

Just login and go to Manage your Booking and then select Change Booking

Thanks I will check that out it is on a different day and I will use points and I paid for the first flight so will see how I go
