SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I must let them know this CE. Today my youngest sent me a text to see if he could use my Velocity points to go in business class to a footy match in Melbourne in April as Qantas flights did not suit. I thought why not seeing he asked nicely.

Is he a Freo supporter? Is the game Freo V Geelong Sun Apr 12? cove you need to explain to him that Geelong is up bush and not in Melb!

He has booked to be there April 8th to 13th so it looks like he will be going to several matches including the Fremantle game.

WOW that's a shame - Bombers V Hawks at the G same day - penegal doesn't know it yet but better than even money he will be getting me a guest pass and taking me into MCG Members that day - he could have tagged along cove.

SQ802 SIN-PEK on Wed Feb 4 was my lonely hearts flt where I was only pax in Suites - as I entered 3C something just looked different - crew behind me noticed my inquiring gaze and informed me 'YES this is updated Suites' - I kept looking and looking - took maybe 30 secs for me to realise leather seats are new colours - gone are the mustardy coloured seats and in are the new dark brown and beige leather seats:

And the ottoman opposite renewed also:

I tried to detect any other changes - crew also added that it was a while since any of them had crewed a 380 and they were unsure just what else if anything had been renewed. I tried for slightly more expansive shot but this is not much better:

Now to be honest - I used to think the mustard coloured seats in R were VERY comfortable - the new ones - well I might be wrong but they did feel a bit harder and a tad less comfortable. Was I imagining this - NFI - would love to hear the thoughts of others.

But I really could not detect what else may have been renewed / updated.

I thought the seat / bed are a little firmer (& therefore better).

Seats are 'narrower' so you don't feel 'lost' - relatively speaking.

Note to self: do not go to hatted restaurants the nights before the suites. It makes the SQ foods suddenly 'ordinary' when you know 500 others at the back would love just to look at the cutlery alone.

I definitely thought the new seat was firmer to sit on which made it less comfortable IMHO - didn't notice it was any narrower - and didn't notice any diff in bed.

SYD-JFK (via FRA & SIN) - fuel fines = $1300 = ouch! at 233,750 points that's about $3,600 for one way F. admittedly alot of flying.

i remember from an earlier post i asked in here that you can't alter the origin of an existing booking, can you alter the destination? (i.e. book SYD-JFK at SQ opening, and then add on a JFK-XYZ once the US airlines open up?)

cheers

......the 2012 Tuesner Albert Shiraz is drinkable - at $37/bott from Dan's it's hardly top shelf ........... St Hallets Blackwell Shiraz which is $30/bott at Dan's
The Cos d'Estournel is $249 a bottle at Dan's so I'm with you on this one CE. Why the cheap Aussie plonk? I have a cellar full of Blackwell - it's a great drop - but hardly SQ F fare!!

Whilst I am more than happy to take you to the MCC members some time this season, the timing of that game unfortunately clashes with this: http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/meetings-and-social-events/titanic-tour-barossa-april-12-a-65653-new-post.html

This was the bird I went SIN/CDG return on in January.

All I could see was the seat leather change

Yes the Bordeaux "suites" me just fine!

Just had a great experience with Angie from SQ customer centre I thought worth sharing. I needed to book an infant seat for our son for our F flights next month MEL-HKG and NRT-MEL. We had booked our tickets as one-way for both. The quote for the infant seat for both was an eye watering $1900 SGD. After wincing, I coughed up the credit card details and reasoned that our tickets were pretty cheap so I shouldn't complain too much. A few hours later, I received a call from Angie, saying she thought the infant seat was very expensive and had done some research and could change it so that the price was $660 SGD and was I okay with that change? Hell yeah! New ticket issued and now more spending money for the trip! Excellent work Angie!!!

It was fantastic - I thought it worth telling here because others may come across her and I remember how you had a good contact at the KF customer centre for a while.

Yes I had a 'STAR' contact in there but she left the company - my new contact Nerha also showing plenty promise - but might need to cultivate Angie instead - what time of day did she call you LadyC?

She called around 8pm but I spoke to her earlier a few times, between 4-5pm as well.
