SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Apparently Krug being served in the PR now? Someone messaged me but I don't know if they are having me on since they know I'm only flying F from SYD-SIN and J from SIN-SYD so no PR time on this trip.
You can use TPR on arrival in SIN but I think you will find the Krug is there

That's what I'm hearing, along with Krug '04 onboard and the SKL F lounge now serving Charles Heidsieck

I can confirm TPR currently serving Krug NV. Staff indicated it is a 'promotion' and not sure if permanent.

SQ appears to be a completely different animal when you are travelling in J... May need to try F!

First SQ J flight (award using UA miles) for a few years and they are remarkably flexible...

I am flying SQ F class in January, SYD - SIN one way, Can I access TPR ? My return ticket is J Class

Cheers

on arrival, yes. on departure, no.

TPR can be used as an unofficial arrivals/transit lounge in SIN. just show same day BP for access. But that won't extend to your departure flight, even if alol on the same ticket.

I doubt there is anyone on this thread that isn't on the new A380 F and J thread where I also posted this question, but desperate times........ Would any of you happen to be the lovely, kind, understanding person in 1F on SQ232 on 28 June 2018?

When we booked we were in the adjoining 3C/3D suites, but on allocation of the new seating to this flight, we lost the option to lower the divider and talk, as we are in 2F/3F. I gladly buy you a glass of krug on the flight if you'd switch seats. :)

Promptly followed up by Cos D'Estournel 2006.
A great drop! Which I have enjoyed a number of times on the kangaroo route.
But I'm reminded of an earlier post about the difference between J and F.
Most of the wines on SQ J are in my cellar and marked "quaffer", $15 - $20 a pop in Dan's. In fact, last year, one of the Frenchies was available in UK at £7.99, so not exactly mind blowing.
However, the F wine selection is in another league entirely and I can happily chomp my way through $1000 worth, on a 12 hr flight (well, $1000 worth of corks pulled, if not imbibed).
I'm thinking that the flat beds and food aren't hugely different so it might not be the best value proposition to use all those extra points or, perish the thought, hard-earned cash on F, just for the vino. But sometimes you just have to!

When flying SQ Suites I now carry some ibuprofen tablets, in case I am the only one drinking a particular wine and rather than see it go to waste have to drink the whole bottle.

Envious - If you sitting in the air china business class lounge in shanghai you definitely won't need any ibuprofen, the wine is terrible should be vinager, and I thought the lounges in Beijing were bad.

I will be flying J return on SQ Syd to LHR in March. Haven’t yet booked flights yet as there are various permutations of A380 and 777. I’m aware that new business will be available on some A380 flights by then, but that ?all/most 777’s were upgraded afew yrs ago. Is the 777 refit superior to old A380 product, if I have to choose between the 2 on some legs? Thanks.

It's a very subjective opinion but I personally prefer the new J seat on the 777 over the old on the A380. The front cabin on the 777 (3 rows) is wonderful.

Also (for me) the satellite internet on the 777 is miles ahead of the A380. $24.95 for 50MB on the 380 vs $21.95 for unlimited on the 777 (and faster too).

My best J flights are SQ306/305 (777). If I'm flying First then 322 (380) wins easily.

An example of typical SQ and Changi service levels today. Flew 238 MEL-SIN in J. Flight 80% full; mostly Indian in Y. Excellent crew but some rough weather during the meal service.

Left the plane and did not realise until almost to my Orchard Rd hotel that I had left my leather jacket on the hook near my seat. About to contact PPS Connect to see how I could find it when saw a WhatApp on my phone from 10 mins earlier telling me it was already at T3 lost and found and giving me a reference number. That could not have been more than 15 mins since the plane landed and we were at A14. I told them I would pick it up in 24 hours before my overnight to BCN and they replied immediately confirming.

A true senior moment that ended ok. I could not expect that happening at LHR ro LAX!!

Dear waitlist gods... Please let tomorrow release MNL-SIN F seat for me. I've got a confirmed SIN-MEL F that just wants me to ticket it.

Don't make me slum it in J!
