SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Argh! I can see the MNL-SIN leg in F available to book, but waitlist not cleared? Chaser sent.. how long before it should take effect?

Will having a ticketed J class fare on the flight I'm trying to confirm an F seat on cause problems with the waitlist under a different booking reference clearing?

Nevermind. Have received notification it has cleared!! Will call up when on the ground (inflight on CX wifi enroute to MNL otherwise would call now)

Very excited to be back in F to end this bucket list solo trip to Palawan. Even more excited to avoid an overnight in SG, and Mrs tizey will receive one hell of a surprise when I show up 12hrs earlier (can't get a J flight home on 7th).

. I told them I would pick it up in 24 hours before my overnight to BCN and they replied immediately confirming.
Good move ... there are few things more out of place than a leather jacket in Singapore.

At least you don't need to lug it around.

looks like myself, the mrs and our infant are on SQ221 on 30th Dec, which means we get to experience the new J.
Booked back in August so a total fluke as thats all that was available in J at the time, does mean we have a ~12hr (8am to 8pm) stopover at Changi

Any other hotel recommendations around Changi apart from the crown plaza as its seems rather expensive.

Do you know about the transit hotels one in each terminal

Exactly. I do need it in Europe though this week so happy to report that the SATS team in Singapore reunited me with the jacket although much paperwork to had to be done as well as a visit airside to the departures area then having to leave through Customs again after retriving the jacket. Only then could I do back upstairs and re-enter through immigration again to continue my journey. It did all take over an hour though so glad I had plenty of time - they had to retrieve the item from their warehouse somewhere over near T2.

I was surprised that Lost and Found is only available between Immigration and Customs although they also handle lost and damaged baggage. I would have though an office in the general area would have been a help to people like me who only discover a loss or damage after leaving the airport.

All good in the end though.

Krug ‘04 on 322 tonight. NV in TPR.
Had Krug NV on 17th Nov and then in TPR on the 1st of Dec they had Dom. They said it was changed to Dom a couple weeks ago, and that they will rotate it soon to PH rare?

The talk of the town is new amenity kits revealed on 2 November as well.
Amenity kit case looks different, but it's still Salvatore Ferragamo.

PJ are different colour now: it's a blue'ish colour now, compared to the previous dark grey. Last time I was in F was a year ago, so don't know how old/new this info is.

I left a bag on the plane when arriving into MEL last night on SQ217 in a different suite to the one I was sitting in. I was sitting in 2C and left the bag in 2A.

The contents of the bag are just gifts, so nothing valuable. Probably worth up to $100, so I won't be too sad if I don't see it again.

I called up SQ and was advised to use the feedback form so I've sent a feedback to the SQ lost luggage team about it, but what's the chances of being reunited with it again? And what happens to stuff that gets left behind on the plane, especially in suite that wasn't being technically occupied/used. I assume they would only clean/check the suites that were being used?

I’m pretty sure they will clean all suites as people sit and lie in different suites, as you may have. I feel that you will get your bag back. Good luck.

At the very least, as part of the security check pre-boarding they will find the bag. Seats other than those assigned to passengers often get used, so expect everything to be cleaned anyway and the bag identified at that point (if not earlier).

You might want to try other avenues such as the lost and found at MEL.

guessing this is a no, but can you waitlist, or put on hold, a *A redemption?

struggling to find availability back from Europe next year that isn't waitlisted on at least 1 leg.

Thanks.

I'll give Lost and found in MEL a call tomorrow.

I'm looking at flights in late March/early April MEL-SIN. When looking for J seats I can see Sq218, but when looking for F seats on the same day, Sq218 doesn't even show up. Does this just mean no availability at all in Saver & Standard on that day for that flight? I thought they just normally show a blank/Not Available if no seats are available for redemption?

For example on 5th (Thurs) April 2018, only Sq 238 and Sq 228 come up and then on 6th (Fri) April, Sq238, 228, 218 (a380) show up. There's a lot of days during that period which have no Sq218 flights showing.

Am I missing something?

Perhaps missing the wisdom of the O P

SQ917 MNL-SIN today in F. No krug, no amenities, no caviar, no book the cook, and tv screen looked like a subway train window it was so scratched and knocked about. Didn't stir a fuss as was quite sad to be leaving PH so just sat quietly and sipped the 06 Dom, reflecting on an amazing fortnight in northern Palawan.

The in flight manager said it was because it was a short intra Asia flight?

Currently in TPR, no krug in here - Dom 2006.

That's what I'd imagine... Savers and standards are full, and so too are waitlists? I've seen it before where savers are not available even to waitlist, but standard can be waitlisted. Must be some quote??

Thank goodness there is none of that Krug stuff. Hopefully the 06 Dom sticks around until Jan.
