SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

23/9 - MEL-SIN-PEK in Suites.
218 / 802 right? The problem with 802 is they serve 'Brunch' which is just glorified breakfast - even if you BTC which I usually do and this is only flt I normally BTC - well you don't get any of the other 'normal' lunch / dinner courses - you can have corn flakes for entree - fruit and yogurt instead of soup or as dessert - get the drift?

You will no doubt have breakfast in TPR but double dipping on brekky on 802 - nah not on. I have done it dozens of times but now try to schedule into PVG on 830 with a 09:30 dep which gives full lunch and then back out of PEK on 807 if poss - but 830 is changing from old 380 to new 380 as of Dec 29 and with only 6 Suites clearly ALL J Savers disappear. Jeez I hate the new 6 R / 4 F concept on SQ!

For the price it's worth, I would be super disappointed with corn flakes and fruit no matter how expensive the brand was....

It would be good Id you could pre order the caviar and lobster for breakfast

Yep, 218 & 802 combo. Was more about the direct route and minimal stopovers than the timing of the flights. Original routing was MEL-PER-HKG-PEK on a mix of QF/CX J, so SQ R is much preferred.

Happy to hammer the TPR for a good solid breakfast. A bit annoying to not get a proper lunch set up on it, but will Satay up in TPR and BTC on plane - odds are that will keep me happy with plenty of Krug to wash it all down.

We're just looking forward to being back in Suites. First Suites was ZRH-SIN-MEL nearly 2 years ago and I feel we've (particularly mrs tizey) come a long way in flying F/J. I feel we'll get much more out of these flights than we did that monster from Zurich.

I’m on 802 on the 21/09 good to know I need to fill up in TPR beforehand

I don't understand that concept.

Travelling TG business class Monday after lunch SIN-BKK. Which lounges can I visit? Arrive around 8:00am and in the mood for *Alliance lounge crawl.

Oh and I don't care what champagne they're serving. Sparkling will also do the trick.

You can access any star alliance business class lounge in singapore (avoid, of course, the star gold lounge). Most of them are SQ lounges, but there is also a Thai one apparently (never been).

There are lots of contract lounges too, SATS and DNATA. Those lounges may display various star alliance airlines to whom they provide lounge access, but you can’t access those.

In my opinion there's nothing wrong with the Star Gold lounge. I'll try to visit as many lounges as I can visit.

You need to ask for champagne in SQ J lounges
Actually the Champs is now out 24 / 7 - there was a period where it wasn't always out even sometimes at peak times at night - I really don't know why but a simple ask to any lounge staff saw it promptly supplied - I am not sure why they did this but hopefully will get answer Monday - even the Managers currently on duty right now in T3 TPR/F/J Lounges don't know reason why.

You can change the passport details after booking at any time. All that really matters is the validity of the passport at the airport, which is swiped at check in. I’d probably secure your seats with their old passports, and then update them once they get the new ones. Nothing is going to be checked at this stage.

Oh nice. I didn't know that. I'll see if I can get them to dig out their old ones. Or can I put xx_xx1111 as the number?
