SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

If holding a BP and plan going back to the TPR for a shower what’s the need for this F check in area. I’ve never actually seen it or used it.
If you have passed immig and headed into town for a day or o/n always return into T3 via dedicated F checkin - it is at end of T3 so you must pass it - almost all taxis know where the F checkin is but remind them as you are approaching T3 as I have had drivers drive straight past it.

But no never mind - if they do drive past it just walk back to far end of T3 closest to city and exit far door and walk around corner to F checkin - easy to find - and no matter if you already have existing BP just tell them you have misplaced it and they will give you new one and a second TPR Invitation.

Edit: Best part of claiming misplaced BP is that your new one will be GOLD instead the plain white if you have dep one of those ports where they now only use white stock for BPs like MEL - not sure on SYD

Thanks. Thought as much, only a few airlines will allow you to secure hand luggage in a lounge. We'll use the storage facility and enjoy Singapore..... now I need to work out Book the Cook (will take a look at that thread) and book more suites for October and December.

That's awesome advice thanks mate.
Was wondering how to get around the dreaded all-white coughpy BPs handed out at MEL - it's a bloody disgrace especially when flying J or F. Something I'd expect QF and JQ to do!

If you do leave your Luggage at the left luggage it will not be possible to use the special first check in area when you come back after your day out..
At least I couldn't see a way so I took my one bag with me
You can always just use the dedicated First check in terminal/lounge after a day of transit in SIN (not a stop over), even if your onward flight is in J (assuming you came in on F). No need to have any luggage with you.

It's really handy if you want to head straight to TPR since it's only less than 100m walk from Check in counter to TPR.

If you already have your tickets, they will just glance over them and allow you through or guide you to immigration.

Out of curiousity - what difference does it make what colour your BP is???

A few photos of my Suites class meals last night SIN-LHR. Food, wine and service as always was spectacular. Flight time was 13.25 so had plenty of time to partake of the facilities :). The poached eggs (with lobster) for breakfast were perfectly runny which is quite an achievement on an aircraft! Seafood chowder had a rather large piece of lobster in as well.

It can, sometimes, expedite progress through the airport. Not so much an issue in MEL/SYD where the staff know their F pax for the day, but somewhere like SIN if there's a large crowd at the gate they might identify you by the BP and usher you forward.

Some people might like it for a momento as well.

Normally, it doesn't, but when flying F especially, that small touch can make a big difference, especially having paid such a fortune/redeemed so many points. Having it all-white stinks of cheapness and cost-cutting. Of course you're on the same flight, same aircraft, same service etc regardless of the colour of the BP however when trying F for the first time or your ability to fly F is limited (I don't have the ability to rack up hoardes of points, I don't run a business), then these small touches really make the experience that slight bit more exciting!

As someone who's never flown Singapore first class before and he doesn't have a business to generate ppints, I understand the above sentiment

however rather than worry about the boarding pass colour Id be more worried about getting the caviar or lobster and making sure it's high end champagne getting my amenity kits and teddy bears etc

There is also the advantage of using the F immigration desk. Although these days most can use e-passports to exit the country.

Thanks to all for posting, some of these photos are amazing and I definitely want to try the suites one day. The last 2 J flights on SQ were pretty underwhelming so I have avoided them for a little while now but seeing some of these photos and reports on the suites has got me doing some serious number crunching and budgeting

whats everyones opinion of first class on a 777?
am looking at booking a F flight return to singapore at last minute, but all the fliughts seem to be a 777
is it worth it, or is J the smarter option?

Just go J unless a day flight so you get to enjoy the extra food and beverages..

so are you recommedning J for overnight flughts? or day flight?

sorry.
Personally I would do J regardless.
and especially if overnight.
F if during the day at least you get more time to drink/eat etc

Personally I'm a "Suites on A380 guy" especially considering that it's the same cost as F on a B777, however this is biased as I've never tried F anyway. I've heard though that F on a 777 is very private anyway and you get the full SQ Service they're so renowned for.

I would like to be know as that too, but sometimes the a380 isnt avaiaible :(
it does seem a waste to use teh same amount of points to get a older 777 product
