SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

For example, Mrs tizey needs to be back in OZ no later than Saturday. Ideally, that means I want Friday flights. Saturday flights are too late as returning to work Monday - she prefers a day to get sorted.

To ensure that she's home by Saturday, I can reserve flights (but not ticket) that depart on Thursday. The ticketing time limit gives me 3-4 days to complete the ticketing process before they release the seats back to inventory. That way, if Friday flights don't open up, I can waitlist Friday as that's what we really want, and then complete the process and ticket flights for Thursday so that we have a confirmed flight home, even if it is a day earlier than we hoped.

Given we are always booking forschool holidays (peak award seats) and Mrs tizeys horrendous fear of flying, its key to ensure the most direct flights are booked early, on good aircraft. This allows me to hedge my bets to get the flights we want, whilst still having a confirmed way home.

Morning, anyone know how far out the bassinet seat 1A is released on SQ288?
gmoh what do you mean by ‘released’? Are you looking to book this seat as a non bassinet usage seat? Basically bsssinet seats are only booksble over phone and never online - just call SQ/KF and request it -
Bear in mind if seat not intended for bassinet usage you may be asked at checkin or even as you board to move to accommodate a genuine bassinet need

Thanks Cruiser, I'll give them a call. Only 4 F seats on SQ288 (CBR-SIN), so nothing much can go wrong if I have to move.

Do you always choose window seat? I see zero point in window seat and always choose 1C, 2C or 3C - if cabin not full most times the D seat beside you will remain empty so you can then use space of both seats

Another good point. Moved to 1D. thanks
Just looked at SIN-FRA at a centre suites is this new? :

"Suite3D
Suite that can be turned into a Double Suite
To enjoy this feature, you must book adjoining Suites".

Remember no o/h bins in F so all carry on must go on floor in front of your feet - I hate this - id DE seat vacant transfer their then your space unencumbered - also you can slide tray out in D seat and double your tray space - great for storing computer etc during meal service - no need pack stuff away.

Definitely not new. On SQ's "old" A380s, they have four Suites in the centre, namely 2C/D and 3C/D which can be turned into a "double bed". The partition gets pushed down and the two beds are effectively joined to make a double bed that you can sleep on with your partner (or for yourself if you're lucky to have the adjacent seat free)!

Yes, had not seen, 'you must book both seats ' before that's all.
Yep, that also gets displayed when trying to book the 2 middle bulkhead seats in the SQ J new A380 cabin. Same reason, being that two seats have to be chosen to get the double bed experience.

You don’t have to book both 2C/D or 3C/D to secure one of those Suites - you can easily book any 1 of those Suited as a solo pax - again just keep in mind if a couple wants them you may be politely asked at checkin/ Lounge / boarding if you are prepared to willingly give it up so a couple can sit together. NEVER will you be forcibly moved to make way for a couple - only time you will ever be moved after you have made initial seat selection is of seat deemed unusable.

Cruiser, I did try to book 3D but got this message:
Suite3D
Suite that can be turned into a Double Suite
To enjoy this feature, you must book adjoining Suites".

Oh I see what you mean - this is new - I have booked 2C / 3C as single Suites 100 times - even as late as Mar 22 just gone I flew 802 SIN-PEK on 380 in 2C - but I did call to secure that as 3C/D were already booked when I made this booking and 2C is bassinet Suite so you must call to get it. Have you made the Rdpt? Maybe grab another seat to get set and call KF and request Suite you want and see if successful.

Thanks Cruiser, I Just revisited the bkg. That same message came up again, but then showed confirmed 3D seats. I may still call and request the bassinet seat. I depart in 10 days, is OK to call request soon?

Could possibly be that If you want to Guarantee that you will enjoy this feature, you must book adjoining suites.

The amount of people who've had the dbl bed as solo pax when there's been space available is why I booked 3D on SQ 218 Mel - Sin
