SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

hey ladies and gents

just a quick one, im looking at some F flights to singapore in mid Sep

I looked sq232 departing sydney
Wanted to check if its old or new suites, 6 for New, 12 for old

however when I look up seat guru, it gives me 3 possible layouts, old and new

how do I check which flight is the new or old please

You can do a dummy booking on the SQ website, after you’ve entered your details and phone number (etc) it takes you to the seat selection page. This way you can check not only the cabin configuration, but also the available seats. (for a sample date in mid september it’s showing the new configuration of 6F)

Seatguru is not particularly reliable for non-US airlines. Always better to try and cross reference with the airline site direct (or a paid service like expertflyer if you have one).

About 3 weeks as they were going to the east coast and just switched to see Liverpool play in Madrid. So they picked up two business class seats to Frankfurt.
We don’t punish our bodies to do that as a long weekend.

Nice that is short notice

I wonder what the shortest notice award flight possible is? Is it two weeks

So SQ experts... Critique my plan

Redeem wife & <4yo son in F. Redeem or pay for Y ticket myself on same flight. Once cruising spend the rest of the flight with family up front?

Unfortunately you won't be permitted to go into the F cabin to join your family as you haven't paid the fare. If there are spare seats they crew may invite you into the F cabin just prior to descent so that you can all disembark together.

An inflight swap (you and your wife) may be possible, but would depend on the discretion of the crew (and potentially other pax). Factors to consider might include the timing of the requested swap (if a meal has already been served, you won't be able to have another meal for example, or if you want to swap while everyone is sleeping they may not want to dsiturb the rest of the cabin), and the number of times you want to swap (going back and forth may be frowned upon).

I was thinking of just sitting with my son the whole time. Not swap with wife :P

Guess I'll just aim for 3x J redemptions then :)

Expect to be stuck in Y as per above critique. You might have better luck if you were in J. It’s really not a matter of sitting with MstrD009. What happens when seat belt sign comes on....

Ok yeah. I see your point

It is actually a matter of sitting with MsrtD009. Even if MastD009 was an infant and could be accommodated with a lap belt, D009 wouldn't be permitted in the cabin because the fare hasn't been paid.
