SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Amaroo are you and your much better half arr SIN morn Mon 13th? I will be in TPR from abt 08:00 till 10:30 dep on 217.

We were, but after a quick shower headed out to see some of mrsamaroo friends for a catch up and a communal foot and shoulder massage. I wasn't even allowed to take a look around - first visit and everything.

We've now had a couple of SQ suite experiences under our belt. Very very impressive!

Sure the cabin and F & B offer are clearly superior however, for us, the cabin crew was the defining difference. The people of SQ are committed, engaged, and friendly - it really is the icing on the cake.

To highlight this point of difference with QF ...... after arriving SYD and checking in for the QF dom transit at the Int terminal, the QF agent was clearly upset we interrupted her early morning catchup with 6 or 7 other agents - perception is reality!

As we were on the escalator to the J SYD DOM lounge ..... a QF agent in full dress uniform barked at us to get out of the way, and let out an almighty sigh as she pushed past me and many others on the escalator.... all this negative customer interaction to gain something like 2 seconds.

We will definitely start flying SQ - both award and cash.

We will continue to fly QF - have zillions of points to burn. When they'll all gone ...... LTG will be our safety net.

Both old and new suites are beautiful, but the new suites is extra special.

Geez you have a nice camera, or was it just good lighting?

In the new F, is it comfortable to sit up in bed with the inwards slope of the fuselage? It’s my default position.

Wasn't a problem for me or the other half. It all felt very comfortable. Obviously the couple cabin setup shows the cabin at its best, but no reason to think the single cabin wouldn't feel the same.

just flew SQ from BNE-SIN on the redeye flight departing around midnight, in Economy.
They didnt have the Earplugs/Eyemask kit!

thought that is fairly stingy for SQ, even Virgin Australia provides these. I have flown SQ several times in Y, i thought they always handed these out. Looks like i need to BYO from now on, just in case.

Yes that is surprising. Now IME they have a tray just before you enter the aircraft, where people simply pick up a headset. Do you remember if you saw a tray? I know they've stopped handing them out inside the aircraft but they've certainly kept a tray of them at the entrance everytime I've boarded.

spontaneous escapes, I believe have just been released

not interested but just dummy booking

I cant find any flights from SIN to Mel for 43400 points, during 1-16 Jun for J

Am i doing it wrong or am I simply too late?

That's the blackout period so the discounts won't apply to those dates.

hey folks, just looked randomly
today from mel to singapore, all 3 flights on F are avaiaible using points,
including one in a few hours

is it normal for such last minute flights, especially in F to be avaiaible, when obviously most of us are booking 1 year in advance often

if larger number of pax better to book earlier from what I've seen and more chances of securing the cheaper saver fares.
I booked a year out and got 5x J redemptions on the same flight on saver

i guess last minute they might open availability as better to have a points person than no person IMO?

absolutely, I would personally never wait until last minute , unless I had another plan B confirmed,

just was surprised to see how much avaiiblity there was at last minute, im waiting on wait list to clear for a flight in a months time for my relateives, that was booked 10 months ago, unlikely to get it , but its fun waiting in hope!

the headset was in a bag of some sort in the back of the seat pocket, I didnt see if anything was been handed out at boarding. From now on I will just bring my own, cant trust the airlines any more :)

oh and folks, quick question

as previously mentioned, I have for my relatives

J x 2PAX booked and confirmed for a flight
and
F x 1PAX booked and confirmed for the same flight
F x 1PAX WAITLISTED for the same flight

when should I cancel the confirmed and waitlisted F flights without losing out?

You called SQ for a chaser, what was their advice on this?

Not unusual. Award seats are seats the airline doesn't believe it will sell (or can sell). Cathay does this frequently, releasing anywhere up to 5 F on the day before departure for TPAC.
