looking for advice/experience - want to book award with SQ (but *A itinerary) - MRU-JNB (on SA) - SIN-SYD and was quoted 125,000 points instead of 86,000 (Africa - South Pacific) - agent could not explain why, So either this is an error or itinerary is considered back-tracking (MRU-JNB) - any ideas.

Potentially an issue with backtracking, so two awards. Doesn’t hurt to call again for a second opinion.

And as MstrD009 is not an infant (over age 2), he must sit in his own seat. SQ F is a large seat but nonetheless, the airline regulations will stipulate 1 seat per adult or child.

You are much better off getting 3xJ instead.

I think that is a backtracking issue and using a separate airline for one of the sectors. Backtracking is only allowed AFAIK only via SIN and on SQ flights.

We just travel in J - 3* J savers are not that hard to redeem if you plan well ahead (except on some Asian regional routes where only 2* J are available from my previous experience).

Slight mod to checkin procedure at PVG - every pax must now provide a contactable phone number - checkin staff advised started May 1 and only at PVG station ATPIT - apparently SQ are sick of pax missing flights - they have 1 to 2 pax miss flts day - with 5 flts daily that’s a shoot load of cost and inconvenience.

Also The VIP First Class Business Class security channel has moved to 12 now - right in front of you when you clear the Diplomat / APEC immig line - no longer way up far right end in 24 or 26

Jeez I seriously hate early morn deps as I really would much prefer full lunch or dinner service than breakfast or brunch - still lucky it is coughtail Hour in Rio:

Well I called back and got my routing MRU-JNB-SYD for 86,000 in J (first call quoted 123,500 - added MRU-JNB as a separate segment) - all good - pays to keep trying !!!

Same as first call. Asked for number of miles Africa to Syd. Gave the routings and agent again quoted 113.5K miles. I asked how come as award chart said 86K and she said OK. Booked and ticketed at lower amount

Gotta love TPR arr access - just a light lunch of mixed satay followed by cheese platter washed down with 2009 Dom and 2008 Rauzan-Seglar and Perrier!

Nope turning off and on fixes nothing - it has been troublesome for months and I keep sending feedback after every trip - all youse others need do the same - [email protected] - people have power - pax have power - let them know about it - feedback will hasten the revolution!
