SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I am not sure if this should be posted here or in the Hilton thread, if exchanging Hilton points to KF miles the hilton site indicates it may take up to 30 days. Has anyone exchanged points between Hilton and KF and did it take 30 days or was it quicker.
I did an exchange this week and it only took a day to land in my KF account.

Thanks, just checked my KF account and one of the transfers has come across. I had to do them in batches as the SQ exchange tops out online at 9000. I was exchanging to get about 50000 KF miles. MrsM changed our plans so a few extra miles are required. I also have VA and lastly AMEX to fall back on.

Yep will be from SFO - F not looking too promising so I guess it will be J on return - still don’t need to book for 3 weeks so we will see how it pans out

I have been AWOL for a year or so....

Are SQ doing suites saver points redemptions on the new suites yet?
Can someone please kindly point me to a list of services flying the new suites?

:)

Me to my dad: I'll book you with my KF points, want to fly Y, PE or J?
Him: I love Y, always someone interesting to talk to next to me over a few beers and pass the flight time. PE..never again, stuck with a stranger and no one wants to talk and no
Lounge access...J, I tried talking to people but the distance is too far and the last time the guy just wanted to work on his laptop but at least I have lounge access where I can talk to people and have a few drinks....Okay book me in J. :D

Last time in Y he met a pilot who flies freight for DHL

Questions for those that do know as opposed to those who might know:
1. Positioning flt MEL-ADL on VA to connect with SQ278 - can and will VA check luggage straight through?
2. 08:00 arr into ADL for 10:25 dep on 278 sufficient time?

I will answer in reverse order. Arrival at 08:00 for a 10:25 departure is ample time. International and Domestic are in the same terminal.
Question 1 is the more tricky one and you are likely to get different opinions. VA to SQ luggage can be interlined, it has to be done at check in and it involves a small amount of effort from the checkin staff to do this in their system. There will be others that detail VA will not interline but when checking in at SA (ADL-SYD-SIN) luggage has all ways been checked through. In my experience and to answer your question "can VA check luggage straight through" - yes, "will they" - ?

Even if luggage is not checked through, you just collect from arrivals and go back up the stairs to checkin, easy but inconvenient. Also if you are not aware ADL has 2 security check points when flying international.

Tks Matt - yep I knew ADL dom / intl under 1 roof (like all civilised ports are) and yep I realise coll / re-check can be swift in ADL - award space ex MEL on dates I want to fly unbelievably tight - I can get out on 218 but my days of o/n flying way gone so a nt in SIN it is.

My last SQ flight i had to reposition with VA, OOL=SYD to join SQ232. VA staff on check in at OOL told me my bags could not be interlined as i had seperate tickets. Not sure if I was all on the same PNR the outcome would have been any different.

For those after a cheap way to try SQ R:

Wow that's cheap (MEL-SIN one way in R is $4k+ AUD)!
For those fancying a journey EUR-SIN return in SQ F/R this is absolutely a no-brainer (provided an award ticket can't be purchased for the appropriate number of KF miles).

I'm trying to get back from Europe in October 2020. Have waitlisted a few flights in F/R. Should I book a confirmed J now in case the waitlist never clears? Any tips for securing the F/R seats?
