SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Anyone have any recent experience of cancelling award tickets that were booked on points that would have expired by now? I understand that SQ have been extending the life of points due to Covid. We have December 2020 award flights booked with points that would have expired in June/July 2020, so wondering if we should call up to cancel to make sure we lose the points? Or is the process pretty smooth now with SQ and online cancellation?

I wonder would SQ ever consider selling some of their Bar Carts:

Dear Mr. Elite
Thank you for writing in to us.
We note your suggestion for Singapore Airlines to publicly sell their inflight bar carts. We have conveyed your idea to our Inflight Services Department for consideration. If this is found to be suitable for opening up for public sales, more information will be made available.
Thank you for your suggestion and the opportunity to be of service to you.
Yours sincerely

Perhaps people will start collecting airline bar carts like they collect airline PJs.

Outside of the normal "Tips, Trips and Tales" it is being reported on the other traveller site (Executive Traveller) that SQ has/ will be handing out another 12 months of status extension.

happened yday for me - 12 month extn from May. Thanks SQ..

Very happy with this as well for both my wife and me. Now trying to work out how to spend last year's PPS vouchers, and a couple of In-flight vouchers by the deadline of March 31. There are a number of useful items on Krisshop.com but a whole lot that are just not worth the price. Delivery and cost much easier if you live in Singapore, of course.

Anyone else finding absolutely zero business saver award availability into Australia for a years time? I’d usually book as soon as the flights become available, but it seems everything is going straight to “waitlist”

How far away are you looking? Exactly one year? Sometimes it takes a few days to appear. The theory used to be that they load availability manually.

I looked yesterday and saw zero availability in ANY class for both awards and cash for any route I looked. Thought it may have been a system issue.

I'm finding saver availability every day to the two places I checked - SYD and ADL* - until 26 March. Which I guess coincides with the norther winter timetable period. So it seems they just haven't loaded the flights yet.

*as per post below - SYD is waitlist. But PER, BNE, ADL all open for non-waitlist saver awards.

I have been watching the SQ site as was wanting to make a couple of booking in a week or so. I am not sure if if this has anything to do with availability but don't the global schedules change from summer to winter around late March early April on an annual basis. I have noticed that from around 26 Mar the SQ seems to have dried up but also noticed the same with CX, some JL and IB.

I just posted a thread similar to this. There are NO flights to purchase or redeem from 27 March to 31 March 2022. At least SIN-SYD.

Was looking for flights in August to SIN (wishful thinking). Nothing ex SYD or MEL but 3 daily ex BNE with plenty award availability in J (all A359 so no F sadly). I can see SQ planes coming to land from my BNE apartment balcony so definitely not phantom availability but what’s the deal with SYD and MEL, SQ doesn't fly there ATM?

Not exactly a year. Furthest it will look is 26 March but absolutely everything that day and in the lead up is waitlist only. Usually I’d manage to get a seat as soon as it opens up.
