SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Assume if you cancel a booking that was made with miles that would have subsequently expired then you will still receive them back as if they had have received the extension?

To my fellow SQ travellers I am pretty sure I know the answer to this question but thought I would check. On the SQ website is it possible to book multi city using KF miles and mixed booking class. Planning to book Mrs and MissM CDG-FRA-SIN-ADL and would prefer it was on a single PNR. They can travel Y CDG-FRA then the rest will be in J.

SQ A380 leaves Alice to return to service!
from what I can tell, its the new Suites layout with the 6 suites.

I haven't done it on the website , however I had the krisflyer call centre do it for me.

hmm, its looking like i might need to transfer more miles in to get the free gold status and then pay to get a miles extension, by Feb 2022

Most likely a simple question and out of curiosity is the paid extension only available to KF gold. I have never though about this as I am gold and normally do not have an issue with miles expiry, although it is something I have to consider over the next 8 months.

normal non status members can also extend, same cost gets them 6 months extension
if you have status, same cost gets you 12 month extension

i can't find the link right now

@daft009 I have never had to extend miles but may consider it next year. IMO SQ with their hard three year rule (given current extensions aside) as the rest of the world starts to open up and AU remains a prison fortress I cannot see SQ having a special set of rules for AU members just because our government refuses to let us travel. As SQ updates their scheme rules it will likely be a case of to bad, so sad for the AU members.

yep, that's what I'm afraid off 😢

no issues with their 3yr expiry otherwise.
i feel the programs that don't have an expiry are worse, when it comes to finding a redemption

Were you given the option of the paid extension or had you already exhausted that option.
I cancelled a booking online and was refunded the bulk of the points, except around 14k which "expired" in April this year.
I didn't pursue it as it's a relatively small number of points (and I have another 1.3 million to spend by April 2022).

This sounds like it could easily be a system issue. Of course it could also be policy but makes little sense IMO. If I end up having to cancel our trip to SIN in December and end up losing some of the miles I will absolutely pursue it. What difference does it make if the miles are sitting in your account or in a ticketed booking?

I started with 10k odd KF miles, if you see above, some 3k were due to expire in Jul this year, and they are now due to expire in Jan 2022.
If my first earn lot had expired, my account would show 6,500.
3358 was earned flying (Air)NZ in premY when they used their 777 AKL - ADL, I had a linked flight, I think CHC/WLG - AKL - ADL.
There was a hotel stay I had at Ibis Budget Melbourne Airport, booked with Agoda under the KF tie in, but in the end, few months after stay, those few points never appeared.
I didn't make a fuss to do a claim, this was a while prior to covid.
Ok, ((back to topic)) of thread at hand.

Thanks for that.

Matt_01, check your latest SQ KF statement, if you are a SQ KF member.
I had points due to expire in Jul, as I mentioned above, but they have been extended in life length so to speak, to Jan 2022.
Not sure if SQ is extending the life span of Aussie KF members only, or everyone.

See my post #8060 from early July detailing extensions

Has link to latest extension news in SIA site - so applies to all, not just Australians.

BTW - how do you quote an earlier post number?
