SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

YES that is what I said 380 - I think there are 2 x 380 and 2 x 77WN painted this way - I flew one as subst for older 380 SIN-PEK 2 weeks back - crew on board thought there was 2 of each painted in these colours.

Yep. It's one of the 380s that just left MEL.

Report from onboard in J is that it is full.....school holidays !!!!

And SQ are true to their word:
Our investigation reports indicate that there was a technical issue with the inventory system on this day, for which the system had erroneously restricted the release of seats at the First Class Saver award level. We sincerely apologise for this, and our IT Department is working closely with our Inventory Management team to rectify this expediently.

We have since arranged for a refund of the additional KrisFlyer miles you incurred in making changes to your travel dates, amounting to 78,625 KrisFlyer miles.

Gotta love SQ - whilst KF call centre will always be your best friend - SAA Feedback should never be under valued.

Long story short:

Issue 1 - On take off my iPhone slid past me like a bullet and disappeared down behind back of seat in Suite - after levelling out I spent 5 mins seeking it to no avail - crew asked what I was doing - I explained - Nicle said let me find it - Nicole spent 15 mins on her hands and knees / flat on her stomach with torch in hand - finally spotted it - had to remove wer watch and wedding ring - was just ably to slide her entire arm into in under behind seat to retrieve iPhone - UNBELIEVABLE.

Issue 2 - R / F Saver Redpt booked PEK-SIN-MEL June 9 - reqd to change to ret home early - only rdpts available on June 7 was Standard with Saver requiring waitlist. Waitlist I did and multiple multiple calls to KF call ctr I still could not shake Saver rdpt loose - too close to dep time so I upgraded to Standard at extra 78K pts.

On board 807 PEK-SIN in R - 2 pax / 237 SIN-MEL in F - I am the only pax - WTF - why no Saver Award availability? I could not believe loadings - so on return fired off email to SAA Feedback - their response below:

That's why I fly SQ!

Simply outstanding. That's just world class.

A quick lobster then onto East Coast Seafood for some chilli mud crab then back for a a quick shower then Milano on 777WN
Nice to be in shorts and 30 degrees again

So how was the PH 2002 Rare?

Ate at a little restaurant named Garnier directly opposite Hilton Paris Opera tonight - PH 2002 Rare on offer:

Very nice, Duffa. Did you notice any differences in terms of comfort or otherwise with the re-upholstered seats? I read about it a little while ago now, but I can't remember there being any major changes to the hard produce? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Enjoy!

What are everyone's thoughts on flying with infants in SQ premium cabins? I guess how "well" your baby flies definitely plays a role. I'm going to be a first time father shortly (next month!) and we are thinking of a holiday next year after I finish a big work exam, to meet up with the family in Europe. My wife will have flown with our little one prior to that time, so we should have a better idea of how she copes with flying. My current plan would be J, as I would feel bad for other passengers in suites if our then 12month old takes some time to settle.

Just interested to here others thoughts!

We did SQ Suites and First Class to Europe with our 10 month old. It was a bit of a mixed bag, F from Melbourne to Singapore was pretty bad only due to another passenger who had a major issue with an infant in F. Our daughter was amazingly well behaved my wife is very prepared and we are very conscience of other passengers. Singapore to Munich was amazing, no issues she slept heaps of the trip and we spent a lot of time playing in the front gallery. This being said I don't know I would do F over J again. Suites home was just fantastic, no issues with other passengers with Singapore to Sydney being full. She played in the suite and had a great time I would do R again any day. Our daughter is feed during take off and landing we have had no problems with crying due to cabin pressure. If she starts to fuss during the flight I normally take her for walk around the plane or just hang up the front, the wife feeds her and puts her down when it's time. In my opinion kids are not the problems its parents and even if your kids are having a bad time a good parent will take them away from other passengers. Lots of place to go on the 777 and A380's when you have full run of the plane as a F/R guest.

OK SQ R / F pax - time we made a concerted effort to get this replaced:

I have already sent off 3 or 4 feedback emails to SIA - here is the address to send to - [email protected] - if you have recently been on board and less than impressed with this wine then please let SIS know - gotta get better than this.

I don't know CE - I think wine problems can get much worse. On EY F recently I asked for a white from Spain and they said they had ran out, and would give me something similar... I got a red.

Nevertheless, I do agree it is a substandard wine and will send feedback per your request ;)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it's really useful to hear from people with first hand experience. A very cute little girl you have, too! I guess one of the upsides to flying in R is the additional space afforded with the bassinet etc. We would be flying from PER-SIN first and probably stop over there for a little while as my in-laws live there, so a nice chance to catch-up with them and break up the flying. Like you said, I'm sure that being prepared as parents goes a long way and we'd definitely be the type to at least try to plan for most things. I guess I'll see what the award availability is like when we're ready to book - if there are suite savers available it may be difficult to refuse after all :p

Understatement! She is gorgeous - but aren't all babies? And to those grumpenstiens who complain about little babies / young children crying on planes just remember you were once a baby also so lighten up.

We had a little baby screaming in Y just behind Suites SIN-CDG on Thur as we pushed back and then to take off - after take off clearly the motion rocked her / him to sleep and not another peep. Gotta love little kids huh. I always feel so sorry for the poor mothers trying to placate the babies / little kids - not much fun this flying caper for the mums - especially in Y.
