SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Question for the brains trust.

I am flying F SYD-SIN-DEL, the family (wife, 2 kids) are in J.

Am I able to guest them into the F lounge in syd & TPR in sin if I ask nicely?
Failing that, would I be able to guest my son given that he is a child? Taking him off my wife's hands will make her life much easier.

maybe organise a glass of something very nice to be sent back from F to your wife enroute from Syd (and do it again on the next leg) if you want to retain some brownie points with the Mrs..

Might run a speedtest on 212 and then on 494 next Tues, thats if I can actually connect before rest of the plane logs on and theres enough pipe left to make it a useful exercise.

Can guest 1 in Sydney SKL from 8-ish Tues morng.

this morning’s speed test on 212 about 30 mins after takeoff. Better informed ppl will know the portent of those Ping and Jitter figs - sound like dance moves to me..

If booking is with SQ flight Advantage, is it possible to add a Star Alliance flight to the booking?

From what I read, the *A flights are a saver and when you go to make a booking the flights in that booking will be priced at *A pricing which is lower than Advantage but higher than standard SQ saver.

Anyone had any luck getting a Star Alliance flight in the same class added to a SQ Advantage booking?

Hi All,

We have a SYD - SIN - NRT trip planned for Jan next year. We land in SIN 5:35PM and depart later that day at 11:55PM. This means we have approx 6hrs.

Assuming no delays, do we have enough time to leave the airport for approx 1-2hrs to see a mate near the airport? If so, what is the process with our checked bags? And assume we will need to be back at the airport approx 3hrs beforehand again, approx 9pm.

Meet them at jewel and kill 2 birds with 1 stone as they say.

Plenty of time

So the beginning of my return to long haul in a few days

MEL-SIN-FRA and then ZRH-SIN-MEL - We had planned for this to be in suites but getting 4 tickets out of SIN in Suites during December was impossible, even when booking in April. So we are slumming it in J. Originally having 2 x 777 and 2 x A380 flights, it's sadly now 2 x regional A350's 1 x A380 and 1 x 777.

Looking forward to being back on SQ after 3 years and already having 2 more long haul trips booked for 2023

MEL F lounge is abysmal but fortunately once onboard everything is perfect 🤩

Anyone have any recent experience as to whether a 9yo child will count as a lounge guest at all? Travelling in Y, BNE-SIN next week. Wondering if as a KF Gold I will be able to take both Mrs NoName & NoName Jnr into the SK lounge at BNE?

Yesterday there was a family with two youngsters in the lounge who left their BPs on the table in plain sight next to us . They were in Y and dad was KF gold. So he got partner and 2 youngsters into the BNE lounge.

So I just tried to book DPS-MEL (advantage 4 adults 2 children) with a stopover in SIN for few days but instead of allowing me to select seats and pay, it immediately went to a Waitlist redemption.
Thought I accidentally did something so I cancelled the waitlist and redid the entire process of adding my nominees details and went to click select seats and it went through to You're on the redemption waitlist again.

Called up KF centre and managed to get this fake "waitlist" confirmed and paid for albeit was on the phone for 45mins. The agent couldn't explain why it went to waitlist but was able to rebook the entire flight again seperately. The "fake" waitlist booking is still in my profile.

Managed my best redemption yet.
5 x I Business Saver tickets SIN-SYD in late June next year SQ221. 2 adults, 3 children.
Had been eyeing it off for a couple of weeks and decided on the weekend to transfer a bunch of points in to grab them, was sure they were going to disappear.
This flight leaves at 20:20, which is so much better than the 00:45 flight (have done this one before with the 3 kids, not fun!)

68,500 ea so 342,500 total plus $360 SGD in taxes. At the moment this is $12k to buy so I’m happy with that saving!
My wife had a few points built up in her account so her ticket is one itinerary, then me + 3 kids on the other itinerary. But I could have ticketed all 5 on the one.
Funnily enough, same day, when searching for 5 seats, only SQ221 had availability for this redemption.
But when we searched as 1 and 4, SQ231 (the 00:45 flight) was available as well. I can’t figure that one out.

There have been a few reports of VA Gold bringing in a child as guest in BNE KriflyerGold lounge so you should be OK.

Question regarding overlapping reservations on SQ.

I have a Y non-changeable ticket for SFO-SIN Mar 29, two day stopover in SIN, then SIN-PER on Apr 1. Due to change in plans I want to eliminate the stopover in SIN.

I understand my existing ticket cannot be changed. I am thinking of buying another ticket for SIN-PER that will connect with my original SFO-SIN flight.

My question is will the SQ reservation system allow me to make this additional booking. Essentially I would use my original ticket for the SFO-SIN flight, throw away the SIN-PER segment on that ticket, and then use this additional ticket to fly from SIN-PER.

Any comments appreciated.
